EV, Hybrid or Gas/Diesel. What would you prefer for your everyday driver?
Technician
I would love to have an EV as a daily driver. Specifically a F150 lightning. The problem is they come with 80k window stickers. For me an EV is an appliance. You use it, and dispose of it when it becomes obsolete and costs more to fix than to replace. For as long as they cost more than their ICE counterparts I won’t get behind owning one.
Technician
Russell did you see that the service interval for the wet belt is now 200k? I've had them under 60k need it and others over 100k still tight. The timing isn't too bad except taking the front of the truck apart to insert a pin to lock the crank, the 3.0 duramax has a lot of 4.0 ford/jag explorer motor vibes to it.
Technician
Have zero interest in EV, especially living in a cold climate area like Michigan. I see many Tesla owners aren't happy in Chicago with all these sub zero days and stranded trying to get their vehicles charged. My gasoline truck runs just fine these days, even when it's negative 15 degrees outside.
Technician
personally, I have grown fairly confident in gas/electric hybrids. I am not really a fan of plug in hybrid or ev for daily use/commuter vehicles, as most areas are not capable of proper support.
