Shop Talk

Top Shop Challenge: Do you work with any local high schools? If so, please describe the types of things you work with them on.

We have a corporate trainer that recruits at quite a few of the local high schools. There's also a career center at the high school about 2 miles from our shop, and we recruit from there as part of their curriculum is to send techs out to work in shops as part of their coursework. Our corporate training center is currently set up at our shop so we can check in on any recruits or new hires as they're going through the training process.

What are some things about your techs that you're thankful for?

First and foremost, I'm thankful for their time. I know the work they do is by no means easy, and they continue to come back every day for more. That never goes unnoticed or unappreciated. I'm also thankful that they believed in me so much that they suggested to upper management that I be promoted from Advisor to Service Manager (May '22). I'm thankful for the team environment we have. Everybody is free to voice their opinion and bring suggestions to the table. When there are hiccups, we figure out solutions.

As a WrenchWay Top Shop, we are committed to promoting and improving technician careers!
