We stock many popular OEM parts in-house. If not in stock, special order as needed.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?
We provide toolboxes and workbenches to all technicians.
Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?
We have a corporate training for basics/intro level technician training, as well as getting comfortable with Xtime inspection tool and media usage for inspections. We also pay for technicians to go to manufacturer training and get certified in all the necessary skills all the way up to Master level. Continued education via online and classroom training. We also have tuition reimbursement plans for courses taken while employed.
Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?
There are advancement opportunities available both at our location as well as in our entire organization.
Can you describe your performance review process?
We have an initial 60 day review as well as annual reviews unless it is required to have more at other intervals.
What type of safety training is required?
There are corporate level interactive video trainings and any required manufacturer training courses.
Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?
Our tenured technicians do a great job of mentoring and teaching new technicians
How does your shop get involved with the local community?
Tom Wood is very involved in the community. We are the main sponsor for the automotive education at Ivy Tech Community College. We have an annual golf outing for the American Cancer Society. We have a toy drive for YMCA each year. We are also involved with Lincoln Tech, Wyotech, and J Everett Light Career Center.
Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?
Our corporate trainer recently recruited a few people from J Everett Light Career Center, which is a local high school level career center. We also invest in and recruit from Lincoln Tech and Ivy Tech locally, as well as Wyotech nationally.
Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?
Yes, we screen applications and resumes to check employment history, experience, etc.
What do your in-person interviews entail?
Usually the first interview is one-on-one with the service manager. For some positions, we will have a second interview or bring the GM in for the interview.
Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

Shop Talk
Gary Adams is celebrating 10 years with the Tom Wood Automotive Group. Gary has been in the automotive business for over 30 years with his first job as a parts driver at 16 with Bud Wolfe Chevy. Gary prides himself on taking care of customers as well as his employees, and understands without both he is not successful in his job.
Ken is celebrating 10 Years with the Tom Wood Group. This is not Ken's first stint with the Tom Wood Group as he worked at the Pontiac Store on the East side of Indianapolis for 15 years. Ken is the definitive leader of the Tom Wood Nissan Store and not only leads by example and takes great care in ensuring his employees have all the tools needed to succeed.

Steve has been a technician for 40 plus years and the shop foreman here at Tom Wood Nissan for the past 20 years. Steve has brought his vast knowledge and passed it on to many of the technicians in the shop. He ensures the work is even spread throughout the shop and makes sure quality controls are set for a great customer experience. Steve is the true leader of the service department.

This first half of the year we have undergone some renovations to the Tom Wood Nissan store, and it is finally coming to an end with the addition of the new Nissan logo signage. We are always striving to provide our customers with the most up to date accommodations while servicing and purchasing their new Nissan.
