What is the size of the team I’d be working with?
The team consists of 15 technicians.
What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?
Shop Hours: Monday- Friday 7am-5:30pm, Saturday 7:30-3:30pm, Closed Sundays. Technicians work an 8 hour shift. Flat Rate Technicians work a 5 day week with a rotating Saturday shift. Typically about one Saturday per month. Hourly technicians work all Saturdays.
What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?
All specialty tools are available to use. We also offer unlimited tool reimbursement for your personal use.
What type of break room facility is provided?
A break room is available with a refrigerator, microwave and seating. Lockers are also available.
How many bays does your shop have?
28 bays in total. Each tech typically has 2 bays.
How many repair orders do you average per month?
575 R.O.s per month for the shop.
What is your parts ordering process?
When a technician determines a needed vehicle repair, the technician electronically submits a list to the parts department for a quote. The parts department forwards the quote to the service advisor who then facilitates the sale. Upon sale, quote is returned to parts department to process any necessary orders. Parts shipments are received multiple times a day.
What is your policy on side work?
Side work is not permitted onsite at Hoffman Auto Group. However, work on personal vehicles may be permitted at the discretion of the Service Manager.
Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?
Hoffman Auto group is unique in that we are the only dealer group in our area that employs Full-Time Technical Trainers. The Technician Training Program assesses, develops and trains new hire Technicians as required.
Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?
The Hoffman Auto Group supports career growth with our Hoffman Technical Training Program and Manufacturers' Training Program. This provides & encourages opportunities for position advancement. Our Technician training program consists of five levels of development designed to advance an Entry-Level Technician up to a Flat Rate Line Technician.
Can you describe your performance review process?
Hoffman Auto Group's Performance Review process includes a self assessment, completed by the employee reviewing their own progress as well as a Manager review on the employee using the same criteria. Then the Manager & Employee sit down to discuss the progress of the Employee and any gaps between each review. The Employee is evaluated on how well they do their job based on the Core Accountabilities in their Job Description as well as how they embody the Hoffman Way values. Performance Reviews take place at the 90 day mark and then every year thereafter.
What type of safety training is required?
Safety training is incorporated into the Hoffman Technical Training Program and utilizes in-person and online resources.
Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?
At the Hoffman Auto Group there is a select group of Lead Technicians designated to assist and train Technicians in need in the absence of or in conjunction with the Technical Trainer.
How does your shop get involved with the local community?
Hoffman Auto Group employees are given one full paid day per year to serve a non-profit organization of their choice. Additionally, Hoffman will match any charitable donation to eligible non-profit organizations starting at a minimum of $25 and capping at $1,000 per employee.
Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?
Our Talent Engagement Team visits local technical schools multiple times throughout the year to speak with students who are interested in the automotive profession. Every year we volunteer with SkillsUSA to judge their State Automotive Competition. We are always looking to build relationships with schools locally and beyond.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?
Yes we complete phone screens prior to in-person interviews to save time for the candidate & Hoffman employee.
What do your in-person interviews entail?
Our in-person interviews entail more detailed questions about Skill level & ability to successfully do the job they're interviewing for as well as a walk around the shop/dealership. Not only are we looking for someone who can do the job, but we also want the culture/shop to be the right fit for the candidate as well. In-person interviews are typically completed with at least 2 Hoffman employees so the candidate gets to meet more employees they could potentially be working with.
Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?
Yes, all candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check & motor vehicle check. All positions that require the employee to drive a company or customer vehicle must also have a valid driver's license and must pass a motor vehicle check to be insured under our Insurance policy.
Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?
Part of the interview process includes asking each candidate the same questions in regards to their skill set. However, there is no formal skill assessment currently being used during our prescreening process.
After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?
The amount of time between last interview & decision regarding employment depends on the specific position, and how many candidates are interviewing for the position.
Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

Pay Range: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00/year
