My name is Roy Ordway, husband and father of three boys. I am a Master Diagnostic Technician with 21 years of employment at Town Toyota. I have mentored many over the years and am currently mentoring our second female technician. I take a lot of pride in what I do and try to pass this pride of work on to the younger generation of techs. As I grow older I find that I really enjoy the teaching side. I feel it gives new purpose to the position.
My attraction to the industry started young wrenching on cars at home. As I gained knowledge I decided I wanted to make a career out of it. I enjoy that the industry is constantly changing, as my favorite part of the industry is problem solving. I really enjoy tracking down problems that are hard to find.
I wish the public understood being a tech isn’t like what we see on tv. We’re real people trying to solve problems. There isn’t a magic machine we hook the vehicle up to that just fixes it. Properly fixing a concern takes time and patience.
The best thing about my current shop is the great bunch of people I work with. Everyone is willing to jump in and help if needed. Working for Town Auto Group makes you feel like part of a family.
