Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

It is a climate-controlled shop.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

We have 1 Shop Foreman and 3 Team Leads to support and mentor the team. We have a total of 9 Master Guild Audi Technicians, 5 Master Journeymen, 13 Journeyman and 8 Pre-Journeyman/Apprentice Technicians.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

We are open Monday - Saturday. Monday - Friday: 7:00am-6:00pm Saturday: 8:00am - 4:00pm

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

We provide Snap-On Tool boxes for each technician along with a rolling 4 drawer BluePoint work cart. We have all specialty tools, scan tools and shop tools available.

What type of break room facility is provided?

We have an air-conditioned breakroom with 2 microwaves, fridges and coffee machine. We have an honor system vending machine for drinks, snacks and frozen meals for purchase at cost.

How many bays does your shop have?

Our Service Center and Sales building are in 2 locations. At the Service Center we have 42 bays and 2 alignment racks. We have 8 stalls at our Sales Building for PDI's and reconditioning.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

1600 repair orders per month

What is your parts ordering process?

Parts ordering is completed electronically through our DMS system.

What is your policy on side work?

We do not allow side work, but we do allow technicians to work on their own cars and their immediate family members cars.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

We have an employee parking lot next door for our employees to easily park each day. Our leadership team have all been with the brand for over 15 years. We respect and take care of each other. We have fun while being professional and the best of the best.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We believe in continuous learning to be able to stay current with the automotive technology. Audi offers online learning modules along with in person classes. We patriciate in the Audi Educational Partnership program for technicians that have just graduated school. It is an 18-month program to complete training to become an expert level technician. Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

We have career paths for technicians from Apprentice -> Pre-Journeyman -> Journeyman Technicians -> Master Journeyman -> Team Lead -> Shop Foreman. Our current Service Manager was our Shop Foreman.

Can you describe your performance review process?

If hired, your first review is after 60 days of employment to do a check-in with how you are settling in with the team. After that, you should expect an annual formal review. If anything arises, we have an open-door policy and we will discuss anything as it comes up.

What type of safety training is required?

We have KPA for our HazMat Training. There is a combination of online training along with in person monthly safety training. When first hired, we will also walk through the facility and review our safety procedures.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We have 3 Team Leads and 1 Shop Foreman in our shop. The Team Leads are present to help mentor and assist all team members. They spend the most time with the apprentices but will help all technicians as needed. They will challenge you and will not "do the job" for you. This is how you will grow and develop.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We work with our local automotive schools and host tours of the facility. We help answer questions to potential technicians and help them understand how a dealership works. We are supporters of the Paralyzed Veterans of America. We sponsor and volunteer with Audi Club Golden Gate chapter at local events including the clubs Teen Driving Clinic to coach young drivers in accident avoidance and build confident driving habits.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We host field trips for our local automotive schools. The field trips are hosted by our Team Leads, so they can ask questions to someone that performs the job.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Yes. Our recruiter will call and talk candidates prior to sending them over to the dealer management team for review.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

The in-person interview starts with meeting with the Parts and Service Director and Service Manager. The next step is meeting with the Shop Foreman and Team Leads. After that, we provide a tour of the shop and the working environment and answer any questions. The final in-person interview is with the General Manager.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

Our interview process typically includes background check, reference check, driving record review, and a drug screen.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

Only if needed, but not typically.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

It will depend on how many candidates we are interviewing. We will let you know what to expect after the interview.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

Typically, 3-4 weeks until attending orientation. It will depend on how quickly you complete the background and reference checks as well.

Is there anything else you’d like to mention about your hiring process?

The interview process is to find out if we are good fit for each other. We encourage asking questions to see if our culture and values match yours.

Journeyman Technician Pay Range: $40.00 - $45.00/hour

Journeyman are flat rate, with guarantee, technicians. We do have a proficiency bonus that can increase the hourly rate. Rate will depend on experience.

Apprentice / Pre-Journeyman Technicain Pay Range: $33.00 - $36.00/hour

Apprentice/Pre-Journeyman Technicians are flat rate with a guarantee. Apprentices do have to provide their own tools. Apprentices are eligible for the Journeyman proficiency bonus.

New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independance Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. In addition, 3 paid floating holidays.
