Dobbs Tire & Auto Center became the first shop to be recognized as a top shop in the St. Louis area on WrenchWay.
Dobbs Tire & Auto Center has been family-owned and operated since its founding in 1976. Dobbs operates 40 retail tire and automotive service centers in the St. Louis and surrounding areas with two more locations opening soon. Dobbs strives to build long lasting relationships that make a positive difference in their customers’ lives. They know this is only possible by attracting and retaining the highest quality associates possible.
“We’ve tried multiple ways to attract technicians. It seems like too many are just generic job sites, not dedicated to our specific need,” explained Don Russell, Recruiter and HR Generalist for Dobbs Tire & Auto Center. “We were looking for a ‘one-stop-shop’ to get our name out there in front of technicians.”
The struggle to find technicians is not uncommon. While most qualified technicians are already employed, research shows 70% of them are open to new opportunities. But job postings all look the same and don’t provide the information techs need to motivate them to actually apply.
Attracting Techs By Embracing Transparency
WrenchWay gives technicians one place to find everything they need to know about working at the top shops in their area.
The WrenchWay platform is not a traditional job board. Shops like Dobbs Tire & Auto Center truly are “top shops” because they embrace transparency by disclosing detailed information that technicians want to know before applying for a job and going in for an interview.
“WrenchWay is a new platform that is growing quickly, but sometimes shops are a little hesitant to provide all of the information we require,” stated Mark Wilson, CEO of Find A Wrench. “These are things that techs find out anyway during the interview — we wanted to move that earlier in the process which will lead to more people applying. Dobbs was one of the best I’ve seen at embracing transparency. They completed profiles for all of their locations in record time. Seeing all that they offer technicians, I can see why they were so eager and proud to show it off. We look forward to working with them to build out WrenchWay.”
Dobbs Uses WrenchWay to Give Techs a Better Picture of What It’s Like Working For Them
The Wrenchway profiles for all of Dobbs Tire & Auto Center‘s 41 locations feature useful information for technicians who are looking for a new opportunity, including:
- Pictures of the shop area where techs work
- Compensation ranges
- Detailed benefits information
- Work environment details
- Career development opportunities
- Information about their hiring process
“I really like the way WrenchWay is organized. It’s great for the technicians looking for employment to be able to ‘shop’ all in one place. It is a true look at the place you will be working, and that’s the way we want to present it,” Russell explained.
“Dobbs Tire & Auto Center truly embraces WrenchWay’s mission to improve the industry by creating a better way for technicians to find the shop that is best suited for them,” Wilson said. “Their top shop profiles help technicians picture exactly what it’s like to work in one of their shops. Not only does this help techs in their job search, but it also helps Dobbs ensure they’re attracting techs that will fit into their culture.”
