West Des Moines, IA
We are a High School program based out of Des Moines, Iowa. I teach Auto Collision, but we also offer mechanical classes and welding. My goal is for students to learn the basics of auto body in order for them to continue their education after graduation or to enter the workforce immediately. I currently have about 40 students spread out between Year 1 and Year 2 students. My Year 1 students are learning metal shaping, welding, body fillers, and paint. My Year 2 students are working on live vehicles. One group is working on a 1978 Ford LTD II, which we are fixing dents/rust on and doing a complete re-paint to make it look like an old police cruiser. The other group is working on a Shelby Cobra kit car. It has a fiberglass body that was in rough shape that we have straightend and it is now in the paint booth.
