Jay explains the importance of a mentorship program for new technicians coming into the shop.
Technician
allot of these shops are looking for 3 to 5 year techs that are turn key or can work right away. those are impossible to find right now so i dont really get that. look for a shop specifically looking for apprentices I'd suggest also looking at hd. like semi shops. bigger the iron bigger the pay and look for hourly which is the norm in hd.
Technician
I've been mentoring for along time. what I've noticed is places that pay thier mentors to mentor usually are more rigid because it's results driven and measurable. this let's them hold the mentor accountable. I think that's important but it needs to be more flexible. apprentices need a solid 6 months of mentoring.
