When life gives us snow, we make the most of it! The Village Ford tam took a break from selling cars to engage in an epic (and very friendly) snowball fight! Laughter, teamwork, and a little friendly competition turned a snowy day into a memory we won't forget!

Tune into the video below, where Jay Goninen, Co-Founder & President of WrenchWay, reflects on a recent Shop Talk Poll where only 4% of respondents said they are happy about the shift to electric vehicles.
I actually drive a hybrid F150…the Powerboost. I didn’t buy it because I was looking for a hybrid but because it was all they had left on the lot. It has taken me way longer to get used to that I would have thought. It’s actually a really good truck but 2 years after buying it, I’m still getting used to the beeping while backing up. As far as EVs, I’m in the same boat as you but I drove my buddies Tesla and it is a lot of fun to drive. Crazy fast. Just not sure I’m ready to fully embrace that just yet, personally.

There was a lot of resistance to the change going from carburetor to fuel injection, but it happened. The hardest pill to swallow for techs who made the change was going from 50% of door rate to 40 and then 30%. The change over to EV is also going to happen. The biggest opportunity here is for the education system to ramp up more in depth training because they typical career path from lube to apprentice to journeyman to master within the confines of the shop is going away. Brakes are going to last much longer, fluids need to be changed much less often, and the problems are significantly more electrical in nature. We're going to need people coming straight out of school proficient with a meter, knowing how to do voltage drop, and smart enough to not turn themselves into a crispy critter. Yes, it might take 20 years for the lube department to go away entirely, but those thinking proactive are going to survive while reactive will whither on the vine. That being said, I'm already seeing shops pushing techs to 20% or less of the door rate, once again justifying it by the high cost of the conversion, so techs who can educate themselves to run their own business are going to be the ones that really thrive in the near future.
