Today, along with our Service Manager of our Dodge store and our two General Managers, I had the absolute pleasure of donating a newer, loaded Ford Explorer to our local Hartford High School Auto Tech class. This explorer more closely represents the kind of cars our techs are working on in todays market. That includes diagnosing a lot of electrical components like proximity keys (push button starts), lane detection, heated and cooled seats, stereo and HVAC systems, as well as the normal mechanical diagnosis and repairs. I have been a huge proponent of giving kids a chance at a trade starting in high school. The college atmosphere and book learning is not for everyone and learning a skilled trade with hands on experience gives more kids a better chance at high paying, family sustaining, professional careers. These kids were so excited to have something newer to learn on and it just made my heart happy to see how great full they were. I also give a huge shout out to my new employer (just celebrated my first year with them) for allowing me to really pursue this donation. I hope other companies see the importance of helping schools help our kids get a jump on their skilled careers. Thank you Uptown Motors!!
