Our industry needs accurate pay data. Help us create useful benchmarks by sharing your compensation anonymously.

In a collective effort to challenge misconceptions surrounding technician pay, WrenchWay and the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) are inviting technicians to anonymously share their pay information through their online pay tool. The tool allows technicians to explore pay rates based on location, industry, shop type, and years of experience—offering a transparent look at the true earning potential of the profession.

The goal of this tool is to dispel the long-standing myth that technicians don’t earn competitive wages. By providing real data directly from the workforce, WrenchWay and ASE aim to showcase how lucrative a career in the automotive and diesel industries can be.

As the industry faces a growing technician shortage, this tool is designed to not only provide clarity to current technicians but also to attract more young people to consider entering the profession. By revealing the real earning potential at every stage of a technician’s career, we hope to inspire future generations to pursue these well-compensated, fulfilling careers.

We encourage all technicians to participate by submitting their pay information anonymously via WrenchWay & ASE’s Online Pay Comparison Tool by February 28, 2025. All pay data submitted between Jan. 1-Feb. 28, 2025 will be entered in a drawing to win some amazing prizes. If you entered your data prior to Jan. 1, 2025, you can resubmit to be entered into the drawing. This ensures we have the most up-to-date information. The prize list will be announced soon!

Together, we can help improve the technician shortage and help build a stronger, more prosperous future for the industry.
