Yes.. but with good aftermarket service info (all data. Identifix. Type thing) it helps a lot. Having code descriptors or system operation descriptions, paired with some basics and decent comprehension of what they are talking about, you can get a long way on most things. Nuts and bolts are nuts and bolts, and electricity doesn't care what brand is on the front of it.
