Heated and cooled using evaporative coolers through out the shop.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?
We offer a variety of work schedules: (4) 10-hour shifts, (5) 8-hours shifts.
What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?
Any specialty tools needed are supplied by the company along with larger power and hand tools.
What type of break room facility is provided?
Each location provides a clean, air conditioned break room.
How many bays does your shop have?
30 in each location
How many repair orders do you average per month?
80-85 RO's at Volvo; 110-115 RO's at Freightliner
What is your parts ordering process?
Technicians order parts from their laptop in their service bay; the parts are delivered to the bay by our warehouse staff.
What is your policy on side work?
The Company has no objection to side work as long as it does not interfere with employee performance or attendance at Young Trucks or creates a conflict of interest.
Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?
Yes, our technicians are factory certified through web-based training and advanced training through instructor lead training provided by the OEM.
Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?
We have a career path outlined for technician growth. We also promote within, many of our technicians eventually advance to a Lead technician, Forman or Manager role.
Can you describe your performance review process?
Performance reviews are conducted annually, with quarterly objectives and one-to-one meetings to ensure ongoing feedback and development.
What type of safety training is required?
We provide extensive safety training during the onboarding process and then monthly compliance safety training through our payroll platform.
Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?
We have Lead technicians in place on all our shifts to help Mentor younger technicians, our Foreman are also present in the shop to assist.
How does your shop get involved with the local community?
We have participated in building Habitat for Humanity houses in our area.
Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?
Yes, we work very closely with two tech schools in our area. A company representative visits the schools monthly and we host a tour of our facilities each year.
Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?
Yes
What do your in-person interviews entail?
We conduct a panel interview that includes the Service Manager, shop foreman and HR Director.
Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?
Yes we perform background checks, drug screens and MVR's if they have a CDL.
Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?
Not at this time - we are looking into several options.
After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?
3-5 days
Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?
1 to 2 weeks.
Service Technician A Class
Pay Range: $33.00 - $41.00/hour
The pay scale increases as the technician becomes more experienced. We also have an efficiency bonus that pays out monthly and ranges on average from $1.00-$6.00 per hour. We offer additional pay for lead techs and CDL holders.
Service Technician B Class
Pay Range: $25.00 - $31.60/hour
The pay scale increases as the technician becomes more experienced. We also have an efficiency bonus that pays out monthly and ranges on average from $1.00-$6.00 per hour. We offer additional pay for lead techs and CDL holders.
Service Technician C Class
Pay Range: $18.31 - $21.92/hour
The pay scale increases as the technician becomes more experienced. We also have an efficiency bonus that pays out monthly and ranges on average from $1.00-$6.00 per hour. We offer additional pay for lead techs and CDL holders.
- Health Insurance Offered
- We offer two great health insurance plans through Medical Mutual the first of the month following 30 days of employment: HSA Plan – A high-deductible health plan with the flexibility of a Health Savings Account (HSA). Young Trucks matches your contributions up to $1,000 annually to your HSA to help cover eligible expenses. PPO Plan – A more traditional plan with co-pays for doctor visits and prescriptions. If you enroll in the PPO, Young Trucks contributes $500 to your Flexible Spending Account (FSA). Both plans give you access to a broad network of providers and include comprehensive coverage.
- Dental Insurance Offered
- We offer two dental plan options through Principal Insurance: 1. Value Plan – Covers preventive and basic services, like cleanings, exams, and fillings. 2. Premier Plan – Includes everything in the Value Plan, plus major services (like crowns and bridges) and orthodontic coverage. Both plans help keep your smile healthy while giving you the flexibility to choose the coverage that fits your needs.
- Vision Insurance Offered
- Vision insurance is offered through Principal and VSP Vision Care. It provides choice, flexibility and savings through a VSP provider. You'll receive an annual vision exam for a $10/copay. Plus discounts on prescription glasses and contacts.
- Retirement Plan Offered
- Employees are eligible the first of the month following 30 days of employment. Both 401K and Roth 401K are available. Young Trucks offer a 100% match of the first 1% of your pay that you contribute to the plan and 50% match of the next 5% you contribute for a max of 3.5%
- Sick Leave Offered
- Employees receive 3 paid sick days each calendar year.
- Vacation Offered
- All full time employees receive 40 hours after 6 month of service and another 40 hours at your first year anniversary. At 2-4 years, you will receive 80 hours on your anniversary. At 5-9 years; 120 hours and at 10+ years you will receive 160 hours PTO.
- Paid Holidays Offered
- Employees receive 6 paid holidays.
- ST / LT Disability Offered
- Young Trucks provides at no cost to the employee, short term disability insurance for up to 13 weeks per incident at the rate of 60% of their pay, up to 13 weeks per incident at the rate of 60% of their pay, up to $1,000 per week max.
- Life Insurance Offered
- Young Trucks provide at no cost, a $10,000 life insurance policy. Additional Voluntary Life insurance can also be elected.
- Uniforms Offered
- Technicians are provided uniforms at no cost.
