Both sides of our Audi shops have multiple large ceiling fans that run throughout the day in order to keep the shop cool. On hot days, we will also close the bay doors in order to keep the excess heat out.

SHOP SAFETY IS OUR PRIORITY

I see lots of ads on here, and that's fine and all, but we are supposed to also discuss industry topics and concerns. Here's one: https://www.bostonglobe.com/2022/11/23/business/car-repair-shops-often-skip-vital-safety-step/ Of course, we have a concern here about ADAS calibrations not being performed. That needs to be addressed via education, and really vehicle manufacturers making their information on WHEN to do a calibration very easy to attain. Arguably free. We also have an issue with a vehicle goes to Shop A for an estimate that will include a radar calibration, as recommended or required by the vehicle manufacturer. The client is taken aback by the "cost" and looks for a second opinion. Shop B estimates without a calibration because they don't know about it. Even if their state-of-the-art aligner suggests a calibration at the end, or warns of it at the beginning, the calibration will not be performed, and the client not charged for one and the client sees that as a much lower "cost" to service their vehicle. What if we have a savvy client? What if they ask Shop B why their estimate is so much less expensive? What if they asked Shop A why their estimate was hundreds more? Shop A mentions the required calibration. What does Shop B respond with? "Oh, yes, we do that." "We've been doing alignments for decades and have never had an issue, it's just Shop A or the manufacturer gouging you." Just some thoughts.

Thanks for sharing. We do need more posts like yours. But also just to be clear, there are no ads on here. Shops are encouraged to share what it’s like working in the industry, celebrate team members, and explain how/why they do certain things. Admittedly some come across as hiring ads. It’s not an overnight thing educating them to stop with the “we’re hiring” posts, but we’re making progress….slowly but surely.

I apologize if my post seemed like a passive-aggressive shot at you or WrenchWay. It was really an encouragement to also post information for those entering our profession. Information they can use or offer optimism to how great this is as a career and what the future holds.

💯 with you. I can't even find my own tech talk posts. I struggle using the filter to filter out what I want to see. I never get in notifications if someone comments on my posts so I have to scroll through to find them

I have a difficult time finding which posts earn me points for the contests. It used to be way easier to find the posts for the contest related stuff. Jay used to ask lots of survey questions that revealed great data about technicians. One of the biggest things I loved about wrench way. Haven't seen that in a long time.

If I could find my posts and comments easier I would post allot more. The app is way more stable than boom nation but I post more there purely because navigation to my posts and comments on my posts are easier. (edited)

Thanks for adding the edit feature

Matt what I do is go to the filter. It's misleading because it seams like your filtering for job search. Unchecked everything except tech talk. Max the range out and you will only see tech talks. It shouldn't be that hard but that's what we got.

We will add a label on that filter area to hopefully make that more clear. I'll talk to the team about maybe adding an option to set your default settings so you don't need to use the filter each time.

Thanks for all of the feedback and please keep it coming. Many of the ones you have mentioned are already being worked on and should be out in both the mobile app stores and browser in the next couple weeks. The ones that aren't already being worked on, I will take to the product team and get a move on those.
