We were happy to represent last night at Lone Star Colleges new student orientation. Tyler Mccombs our shop foreman presented new technology Electric cars as well as information about Auto technician careers.

We currently have 19 students enrolled who are completing safety and orientation tasks this week in the lab and will normal subject area training next week.

We have a full class this year. 19 first year college students, 12 second year college students, and 38 in high school. This is the highest number of high school students. We provide a tool box with tools for high school to rent. This is not working out very well. The cost of replacing lost tools or stolen tools is no longer sustainable. Our advisory board has recommended students in high school purchase their own starter set as this will help with responsibility and provide ownership.

We are building a 97k square feet career and technical center in Jasper Alabama. It will house 15 programs including Automotive,Diesel and Collision repair. Students will eran ASE, ICAR, and industry credentials in HIGH SCHOOL!

Last year I took over the open diesel instructor position in November. This will be my first year to start from the beginning. We now have 50 students in class. This is split between two classes. In that 50 we have 4 students returning for year two, this is more in depth engines and electrical troubleshooting.

Each year our employees are invited to Milan Dragway to race their cars and have lunch. Here's a video of one of those races!
