As the 2024-25 school year comes to a close, I wanted to reach out to all of you to say “Thank you.” As I look back through the 2024-25 school year and reflect on the many events we had and the impact on our students and community due to your generous support. To those who participated in our many events and/or regularly attended our advisory meetings to help guide our program, you were able to benefit our students and your new /future technicians in many ways. Here is a list of the past years’ events. Parent night in August, where we had representatives from Ford, Sun Auto, former students, and Toyota. Avondale Toyota provided the BBQ dinner. Mock Interviews, where we had 21 employers help our second-year students hone their interview skills. SRP, Bell Ford Sanderson Ford, Bell Lexus, Avondale Toyota, Larry Miller Toyota, Penske Auto Mall, Big O Tire, Bell Toyota, Arizona Department of Transportation, Klein Education, AAA, and Elite Recruiting. Field Trips to Good Guys – sponsored by WyoTech, NASCAR, Toyota training center, Barrett/Jackson – sponsored by Ford Motor Company, and Legacy EV. Job Shadow Experience in March, where we sent out 80 students to 35 local dealerships and independent shops. West-MEC Auto Challenge in April, where our students showcased their skills, vying for over $9,000 in prizes. It is enjoyable watching the seasoned car people interact with the next generation of car people. All those who participated received lunch, snacks, and a T-shirt. Competing students also received a gift bag full of stuff. The comprehensive list of those who support the challenge is; Avondale Toyota, Larry Miller Hyundai, Bell Lexus, Sanderson Ford, Larry Miller Toyota, BMW of North Scottsdale, Ferrari of North Scottsdale, Maserati of North Scottsdale, Bell Ford, MATCO tools Snap-On tools, SRP, Sun Auto, Subaru -U, Tech Force, General Motors Corporation, JRRS Auto Parts, and Ford Motor Company.
