York Automotive was founded in Greencastle, IN by Robert A. York Sr. in 1987. He founded this company based on the premise that our customer is the foundation of our success. This family owned and operated business allowed the opportunity to grow into 6 locations serving Greencastle, Crawfordsville, Brazil, and Plainfield. Robert A. York Jr. and Nickolas C. York have carried on the family operation and created an opportunity to allow you to expand and grow your career in ways you would with a large corporation without losing the feel of working within a small, hometown operation. Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?
Our facility is heated and air-conditioned.
What is the size of the team I’d be working with?
We currently have a team of 12 members.
What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?
Monday through Friday 7:30am-5:00.pm. Closed on Saturdays.
What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?
All OEM tools will be provided.
What type of break room facility is provided?
We have a break room that includes a fridge, microwave, table, chairs, coffee maker
How many bays does your shop have?
We currently have 15 service bays.
How many repair orders do you average per month?
We currently do 600 RO's a month.
What is your parts ordering process?
We use x-time for quotes for the parts department to order. Parts will be received as soon as possible for technicians to finish their repairs

We provide continued education through our OEM.

We perform reviews at 90 days, 6 months, 1 year, and then yearly on your work anniversary.
What type of safety training is required?
We have compliance training that each employee must go through online.
Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?
We are always willing to mentor younger technicians. More experienced technicians will be available to answer questions, and help through repairs when time permits
How does your shop get involved with the local community?
We are very involved with our communities.
Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?
We are involved with local technical schools.
Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?
We would more than welcome a phone screen but would prefer to speak in person.
What do your in-person interviews entail?
In-person interviews are fact-finding for you and us to make sure that this is a great fit for both parties.
Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?
We perform background, driving record, and a 4-panel drug screen.
Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?
No formal skill assessment. Skill assessment is done through the interview process
After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?
Depending on the number of applicants, decisions should be made within 48 hours.
Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?
Hiring decision decisions based on the number of applicants should be handled within 7 business days or less.

Vision Insurance

Driving to work, reading a news article and watching TV are all activities you likely perform every day. Your ability to do all of these activities, though, depends on your vision and eye health. Guardian vision insurance can help you maintain your vision as well as detect various health problems. York Automotive Group vision insurance offers you specific eye care benefits. Our policy covers routine eye exams and other procedures, and provides specified dollar amounts or discounts for the purchase of eyeglasses and contact lenses. This benefit is offered on a voluntary basis.
Retirement Plan

York Automotive offers a competitive retirement plan benefit. Employees that participate in our 401(k) through Vanguard will receive a matching contribution from York Automotive. Employees will receive a 100% match on the first 3%, and a 50% match on the next 2%. An employee contributing 5% will receive a 4% match from the company. This match is 100% vested from day one of participation in the plan.
Sick Leave

All employees are given 40 hours of Personal Time Off (PTO) after 90 days of employment. The annual 40-hour allotment resets each year on the anniversary of your hire date.
Vacation

Vacation is offered after 1 year of employment.
1 year- 5 days
3 years- 10 days
5 years- 15 days
