Yes. We also enjoy a temperate climate so shop is usually very comfortable

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

We have three shops each having 5-10 techs per shift

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Monday - Saturday 8am-5pm

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

OEM speciality tools provided at no charge

What type of break room facility is provided?

Luch room facility with refridgerator and microwave. Weight room available anytime we are open.

How many bays does your shop have?

25 bays total

How many repair orders do you average per month?

Average around 2,000 RO's per month

Not allowed

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

Our techs like a fast pace can be competitive with each other, but we generally work as a team, supporting each other in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

Yes. Paid certification training from OEM for each of the 5 brands we sell. Additional OTJ training available. We also provide continuing education programs for employees and their families.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

We work with our employees to ensure best fit, and to help them achieve career goals. We can help you obtain Master Tech status, or help you find a level you are most comfortable.

Can you describe your performance review process?

Employees are reviewed regularly with their manager to discuss performance and evaluations.

What type of safety training is required?

Must complete shop safety review prior to working in the shop.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

Our newer hires are able to shadow veterans techs until they are comfortable. Veteran techs monitor new hires to ensure there are no safety or proceedural concerns. Shop team works together to help resolve problems or complications that may arise on any repair order.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Wilder Auto is very involved with our community and encourages our staff to participate. In the past, we have reached out to help with: building handicap accessibility ramp, fundraising campaigns for cancer patients, and worked with the local college, schools and Fire Departments on technical training. Wilder's slogan "You Can Count On Us!" applies to much more than auto sales and repair.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

Yes, we have been active in the auto mechanics courses in our high school and college, and our founder Dan Wilder Sr was also an active board member at Peninsula College for much of his career. The name Wilder is well known and respected in our schools.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

Wilder's has been a part of this community for 45 years, and we expect to be one, 5 - 10 and even 45 years from now!

Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

The North Olympic Peninsula is a welcoming place for newcomers and a great place to settle a family. We are a small tight-knit community and hope you will find your way to live here as well to help us continue to grow and become better.

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

Yes, typically our initial application can be completed in a matter of minutes.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Yes, our hiring team will reach out by phone to let prospective candidates know there is interest. An in-person interview will be arranged if you are still available.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

You'll have a chance to sit and meet with our hiring team which includes the HR department and department manager(s). You will also be given a tour of three shop facilities, and meet with some of the techs (if they are available).

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

Yes

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

THere is no official skills test, but we would love to hear about your level of expertise so we can best place you in the program.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

Typically, you will receive a reply within a week. In some cases, if there is a high level of competition for the position, this can take a little longer. But we will do our best to keep you apprised of your chances so you do not miss another opportunity should it arise.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

Depends on the number of applicants, type of position and many other factors. Typically the process will last from 1-4 weeks.

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $60,000 - $100,000/year ($28.85 - $48.08/hr)

B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $50,400 - $80,000/year ($24.23 - $38.46/hr)

25.00 flatrate

C Level Technician
C Level Technicians are more of entry level technicians. C Level Technicians’ responsibilities typically include basic maintenance, alignments, brake and suspension work, along with other base level repairs.
Pay Range: $33,600 - $45,000/year ($16.15 - $21.63/hr)

17-20 flatrate

Lube Technician
Lube Technicians are entry level technicians that focus on routine maintenance such as oil changes, changing tires, and inspections.
Pay Range: $30,000 - $42,000/year ($14.42 - $20.19/hr)

15.00 plus upsell bonus

Service Advisor
Service Advisors are primarily customer focused and, as one of the faces of the shop, they are critical in keeping customers happy. Service Advisors are frequently focused on taking customer calls, relaying information to technicians, and selling repair jobs. Both technical and sales experience are helpful for this position.
Pay Range: $42,000 - $65,000/year

Service Manager
Service Managers are responsible for management and overall health of the shop. Service Managers are typically focused on running an efficient shop that meets their financial goals. Other responsibilities can include staffing, performance evaluations, and financial analysis amongst many other responsibilities.
Pay Range: $60,000 - $90,000/year

Student Tech / Apprentice
Student technicians work on entry level tasks while completing their school programs.
Pay Range: $15 - $16/hour
