Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

The shop is heated with natural gas for the winter months. We also have high circulation fans for the summer months.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

Currently, we have 11 individuals working in the Maintenance Department. We are in the process of adding additional support to aide in our growth.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

We currently only run one shift from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday with overtime available if you choose. Saturdays are on a rotation. Typically we work a half day on Saturday. If it is your off day you can volunteer to work and receive overtime.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

Waddle Trucking supplies all of the specialty tools and bigger items. You would just need to bring your standard daily tools to work with.

What type of break room facility is provided?

We have several different break areas. All have refrigerators, microwaves, and coffee available.

How many bays does your shop have?

We have 5 bays with room for growth.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

It varies month to month. We have ample workload that keeps us busy everyday.

What is your parts ordering process?

We keep many of the parts used in stock in our parts room. Our onsite parts specialist will pick the parts for you and then charge them out through our software.

What is your policy on side work?

We do not have a policy against side work. We ask that it not interfere with your schedule and the work is not done on Waddle Trucking's property.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We offer multiple forms of training through onsite and offsite education. We are firm believers in continuing education and strive to provide the education that is desired.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

We are constantly growing so there are many avenues for career growth. Whether that is fine tuning your skill set through continued education classes, taking on additional responsibilities or moving into a new role, you will have the opportunity to grow how you desire.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We conduct reviews at the 90 day point in your new career and annually after that. We believe in providing you with feedback that helps make you and the company successful.

What type of safety training is required?

We conduct Safety training on a regular schedule. Once you complete your onboarding we will assign you with a log in to complete any safety education that is currently required.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We are a team here. No one has all the answers, so we rely heavily on teaching each other new skills sets and rely on each others strengths to make us all successful. When needed, we will place a tenured tech with someone that is still needing some help.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We are always looking for ways to get involved in our community. Currently we sponsor multiple youth in sports and hobbies.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We attend job fairs to promote the skilled trades.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

Over the next five years, we expect that our shop will be a full service, 24 hour shop. We are continually growing and our maintenance department will be on the forefront of that growth.

We typically post our open position on indeed and on this page. We are always looking for top notch help so feel free to call.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

We do conduct phone screens first. We need to make sure what we have to offer fits us as well as YOU!

What do your in-person interviews entail?

During the in person interview we will ask a few questions related to the field, introduce you to our team and answer any questions you may have. We believe that not only are we interviewing you, you are interviewing us to make sure we are the right place for your career.

We do perform background checks, and drug screens prior to employment.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

We typically do not do a skills assessment.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

We will provide feedback or an offer letter within 1-2 business days.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

We move relatively quick if everything goes smooth a qualified candidate can be hired in under one week.

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $55,000 - $85,000/year ($26.44 - $40.87/hr)

A Level Technicians are highly experienced, with proven work history, certifications and possess specialized skill sets. These individuals can diagnose and make repairs as needed independently. At times provide leadership and guidance in decision making.

B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $45,000 - $55,000/year ($21.63 - $26.44/hr)

B Level Technicians are experienced and capable of working independently. They are able to diagnose most repairs but still need some guidance with repairs that are not a normal occurrence.

C Level Technician
C Level Technicians are more of entry level technicians. C Level Technicians’ responsibilities typically include basic maintenance, alignments, brake and suspension work, along with other base level repairs.
Pay Range: $35,000 - $45,000/year ($16.83 - $21.63/hr)

C Level Technicians are primarily utilized for general repairs and basic preventive maintenance. Typically they have not been in the profession for an extended period of time. They are still growing and require guidance to complete repairs and diagnose complaints.

Lube Technician
Lube Technicians are entry level technicians that focus on routine maintenance such as oil changes, changing tires, and inspections.
Pay Range: $25,000 - $35,000/year ($12.02 - $16.83/hr)

Lube Techs complete basic repairs and focus on preventive services that do not require diagnoses.

Health Insurance Offered
Our health insurance is through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi. We pay for the employees portion of the health benefit. If an individual chooses to cover a spouse or child through our plan, that option is available at a cost to the employee.
Dental Insurance Offered
Dental insurance is through Guardian. It has an annual maximum benefit of $1,250 per year and includes preventive care as well at no cost.
Vision Insurance Offered
Vision insurance is through Guardian and is administered by VSP. This allows the users a wider range of options and keeps prices low.
Retirement Plan Offered
Our retirement and long term investing strategies are through Wealth Plus. Should you elect to participate you have the option of choosing a traditional (pretax) 401k or (after tax) Roth 401k. Both options have multiple options to allow you to choose what works best for you.
Sick Leave Offered
We offer sick leave/ pto days days based on hours worked.
Vacation Offered
All new hires begin with one week of vacation.
Paid Holidays Offered
We have six paid holidays each year. Christmas Eve, Christmas day, New Years day, Labor Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving Day.
ST / LT Disability Offered
Short Term and Long Term Disability is offered by both Guardian and Aflac. If elected through Guardian, it would cover you at a true 60% of your salary.
Life Insurance Offered
The company pays for a $15,000 policy for you. You can elect to add additional voluntary Life and AD&D through Guardian or Aflac. An individual can elect up $250,000.00 on coverage through Guardian with a single medical question to answer.
Uniforms Offered
Uniforms are paid for by the company.
Other Offered
The company provides most of your ppe that is needed in the shop. However, you can choose to purchase your own welding helmet, googles etc. if you would like.
