Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

The shops are heated with the latest waste oil heaters and backed up with natural gas units. The shops are not air conditioned.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

We run between four and five technicians per team.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Shop opens at 7am and closes at 6pm Monday through Friday and 7am till 4pm on Saturday. Two of our teams operate on a 4 days week schedule, at 10 hours a day. Our other team operates 5 days a week, 8 hours a day.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

All specialty tools required by Ford Motor Company and Hyundai are provided.

What type of break room facility is provided?

Comfortable and quiet. Basic fridge, microwave, table, chairs.

How many bays does your shop have?

21 bays in our Ford main shop, 10 bays in our Hyundai shop, and 10 bays in our Quick Lane facility.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

1000 to 1200.

What is your parts ordering process?

Technicians send in their parts requests through CDK.

What is your policy on side work?

Friends and family vehicles are allowed to be worked on with an open repair order as long as it is on the technician's personal time.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We are huge proponents of the Ford ASSET Program and always sponsor at least two students per rotation. We also pay our technicians to complete Ford Motor Company's online courses which lead to in person classrooms that the technicians are also compensated for.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

Hard work, determination, and the drive to become more is always rewarded with growth in pay and opportunities. We have many long time employees that have grown with the company, some have been here 35+ years. Our current service manager started as a diesel technician and moved into his position 2+ years ago.

Can you describe your performance review process?

Open discussions between the technician and management to determine strengths and potential points of improvement.

What type of safety training is required?

Standard OSHA safety training and forklift operation training are required.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

New to the industry techs and ASSET students work side by side with seasoned technicians to learn with a hands on approach.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We sponsor many local events and donate regularly to the local high school and technical institutes' automotive programs.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We work with Cascadia Technical Institute to introduce young adults to the dealership environment and allow them to see the daily workings of the shop. We also work closely with Mount Hood Community College and their ASSET program to sponsor and mentor new technicians

Where do you see the shop in five years?

As our area continues to grow at an exponential pace we are diligently working to expand and offer an even better customer experience and work place experience. Happiness and a family feel to both our customers and staff are at the forefront of our plans and expectations.

Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

It is always our goal to support and drive our employees to be more and accomplish more.

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

20 to 30 minutes.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

If the applicant lives at a distance or if time constraints make it difficult to get together for the initial meet and greet, we are more than willing to discuss opportunities over the phone.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

A conversation with the service manager and parts & service director to discuss opportunities and tour of the facilities.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

We do perform background checks, drug screening, and a personality test as part of our application process.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

A review of certifications and usually a quick Q&A to determine how the applicant would approach certain tasks/jobs.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

One to two days so that management can review information provided by the applicant and touch base with any references also provided.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

Usually less than a week.

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $65,000.00 - $120,000.00/year

Flat Rate Position

B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $55,000.00 - $85,000.00/year

Flat Rate Position

C Level Technician
C Level Technicians are more of entry level technicians. C Level Technicians’ responsibilities typically include basic maintenance, alignments, brake and suspension work, along with other base level repairs.
Pay Range: $40,000.00 - $60,000.00/year

Flat Rate Position

Lube Technician
Lube Technicians are entry level technicians that focus on routine maintenance such as oil changes, changing tires, and inspections.
Pay Range: $32,000.00 - $45,000.00/year

Hourly wage to start and or commission based pay depending on experience. Great for starting out and learning automotive, we are willing to train the right individuals.
