Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

All class rooms are both heat and A/C. Shop area is heated - no A/C

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

We have a great team of in house trainers. There are 4 Certified Freightliner/Detroit instructors with additional trainers that come in and out to perform classes. One admin and Director on site. Small Team feel atmosphere.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Monday thru Friday. 7am - 5pm *** No weekends but we do have special events from time to time week nights.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

We provide all tools needed for instructors.

What type of break room facility is provided?

We have a break room - cooler fridge - grill. Lunches are typically catered in but we also like to grill for the training classes at times.

How many bays does your shop have?

6 bays with 5 of those that are 3 truck deep. Two bays additional bays for engine training only.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

With Truck Country growing in size and now up to 27 locations, our tech count keeps increasing. This is job security for trainers as we have to have certified techs trained.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We have annual reviews but as the Director, I am in constant communication on developing my team. Weekly - daily.

What type of safety training is required?

Quarterly online. We also assist in the development of our technical safety program in shops.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We have a coaching program and there could be classes for coaches from time to time.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We have multiple career events and host the Boy Scout Explorer diesel program annually.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We have high school diesel tech classes in partnership with the local college. Students will receive credit to further their education if they chose to.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

Expanding the facility.

Yes - minutes

What do your in-person interviews entail?

We would look at skills, past work, hobbies and interests. Where do you see yourself in the future? Do you know about our company?

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

Yes - MVR and criminal history. Once hired we will send an offer letter. Once that's signed, a physical and drug screen required. *** If you have a CDL, we require an FMCSA clearinghouse query.

Currently no.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

Almost with in a week pending all interviews have been completed.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

No more than 2 weeks approximately.

Diesel Technical Trainer Pay Range: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00/year

We are looking for a trainer to start working with our High School training program and assist in other classes. Freightliner technical certifications are a plus as they require our instructors to be certified as a technician prior to becoming a trainer. We have increases based on OEM certification to teach.

McCoy Group offers a competitive 401(k) retirement plan to full-time employees. Paid Holidays Offered
Full-Time employees will receive six(6) designated holidays each year. Hourly employees whose employment commences during a holiday week will not be paid for the holiday. To qualify for holiday pay, the employee must work their scheduled shift the days immediately before and following the holiday unless an absence has been approved.
