Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

The shop is well-heated in the winter. In the summer months, we have water-cooled fans situated throughout the shop to provide comfort.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

The team currently consists of a Service manager, two service writers, four technicians, three lube techs, and a porter. We also have an active service BDC department.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

We are a Monday - Saturday shop that rotates Saturday between all techs. Our hours are Monday through Friday 7:30- 6:00 Saturday 8:00-2:00

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

We provide all diagnostic tools that are required by Toyota.

What type of break room facility is provided?

The breakroom is an air-conditioned area with a table, chairs, and a refrigerator.

What is your parts ordering process?

We order parts daily and with Toyota it is a very quick turnaround.

What is your policy on side work?

Trotter Toyota strongly discourages side work.

Trotter Toyota is a shop that has a passion for customer satisfaction.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We are very passionate about training. It is our desire to be 100% on all recommended Toyota courses. In addition, we offer an applicant the opportunity to advance their Toyota training by providing funding for the classes, tests transportation to test facility and accommodations while there.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

We currently are without a Master tech. We have techs that are currently on a fast trac to achieve this certification and are looking to hire more applicants with this as their goal

Can you describe your performance review process?

Our performance review process is a very simple one. The service manager is involved in all day-to-day operations. Every month he and the General Manager look at the individual production and lay out expectations and direction for the next month. Every 90 days we will evaluate the overall performance and reward the goal hitters.

What type of safety training is required?

We currently do not require safety training to anyone not dealing with Hybrid vehicles. Should the applicant be Hybrid certified, there is an onboarding process and training.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We have an excellent environment for younger techs to receive hands on training and guidance from a seasoned crew

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Our shop is involved with the community by individual commitments from working with the local food bank to volunteering with the community blood drive. We strongly encourage the volunteer mindset.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We sponsor the local college by corporate donations. We also have job fairs where we provide lunch for high school students that gave an interest in our business.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Yes. We like to talk to the applicant either by phone or chat to introduce ourselves.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

We discuss the job that is offered, we talk about the background of the company, the vision that we have, and we listen a whole lot to the applicants' desires.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

No, we do not.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

We rely on the applicant's references and general knowledge to the job.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

24 Hours at the most.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

We usually allow three days for this process. This depends on the ability to contact the references.

ASE Certified Tech Pay Range: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00/year ($36.06 - $38.46/hr)

36.06-38.46 per flag hour With a guarantee of 30 hours per week.
