Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

Our shop offers multiple gas heaters for the cold season. Additionally, we have large displacement shop fans for warm season.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

Currently, or dealership staff ranges between 12-17 team members, total. We aim to have a staff of five shop technicians and two mobile technicians.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Our technicians generally work eight hour shifts, beginning at 7:30 am until 4:30 pm. Overtime is available for those who wish to earn over and above a standard wage.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

As a top tier JCB construction dealership our shop owns and maintains a wide array of JCB specialized shop tools (e.g., injector test kits, flow meters, multi-process welders, etc.)

What type of break room facility is provided?

Our dealership has an indoor our outdoor break area with a refrigerator for staff members.

How many bays does your shop have?

Our shop offers five (5) drive-in bays with two of the bays being 30'+ deep.

How many repair orders do you average per month?


What is your parts ordering process?

Our technicians diagnose the inbound service equipment. Then, they prepare recommended parts estimates based on their findings. Once they recommended parts estimated is communicated to our dedicated parts staff and Service Manager, the parts are ordered and assigned to each repair order.

What is your policy on side work?

We ask that our technical staff be committed to TriStar JCB, only. If additional money is desired, we are growing and have the work!

Our staff. Culture is everything to our team, and we feel we have a well balanced, experienced team. We are a growing business and, we afford anyone who wants to join our team a great place to learn and grow. We want our staff to feel their work and voice matters.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

As a factory authorized JCB dealer, we offer a litany of continuing education / training opportunities. We strive to send each technician to two (2) weeks of in-depth technical training, annually. This is in addition to distance learning opportunities.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

TriStar JCB is primed for growth in the Nashville, TN and surrounding areas. Our mid-term to long-range plan is to be multi location, offering several opportunities for our staff to grow into larger roles.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We evaluate our staff at thirty (30) days and annually. The management team also likes to have one on one meetings with staff every other month to maintain personal alignment.

What type of safety training is required?

TriStar JCB aspires to have a fully compliant OSHA and 5-S shop. We have outside vendors administer training on-site, annually.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

Currently, we have two (2) senior level technicians who remain accessible for less-experienced technicians to work with and through.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Our company participates-in and sponsors a number of local activities, annually. We hold annual gift drives for the holidays, as well as support local organizations.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

Our company works in lockstep with JCB Inc. out of Savannah, GA to participate at the local diesel college's career events.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

Multi-location with a new state of the art building and shop. Ideally, staffing 15-20+ technicians across the company.

Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

We are willing to hire character, and train skill.

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

Yes. A resume often suffices as well if you approach our staff directly.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

We enjoy having conversations with candidates prior to having a formal 'sit-down' interview.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

We spend time with each applicant to learn about necessary job skills and additional qualitative criteria to determine proper fit.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

Yes. For technical staff, candidates are interviewed by existing technical staff, and given a number of scenarios to work through verbally.
