About Us

Transport Refrigeration Services (TRS) in Grandview operates the Walmart Truck Maintenance Garage (TMG) for DC 7021. We staff and manage the TMG for Walmart and do the truck, APU, trailer, refrigeration unit and yard tractor maintenance. With a wide range of equipment to keep running we have multiple levels of technicians in the shop. We offer one of the best work schedules you'll find. We are open 364 days per year, the only day we shut down is Christmas day. The shift offerings are 4 -10 hour days with 3 days off or 3-12 hour days with 4 days off. The 4-10 shift is Sunday through Wednesday and the 3-12 shift is Thursday-Saturday. We have a $2.00 per hour shift premium for anyone working 2nd and premium paid for Holidays. The equipment we work on is all late model with the newest technology. Working here you'll be exposed to the truck, the TriPac APU. the trailer, Thermo King reefer unit, and the Yard Tractors . There is always repairs or PM's to do no worry about slow times. Training is continuous as we want our technicians to learn on every type of equipment they may encounter. Our goal is always to promote from within and many technicians have progressed from shop helpers to Level 3 techs in our company. What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

The shop team ranges from 20-25 technicians with additional staff for admin and parts.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Shop Hours: Open 24/7 363 (Closed Christmas Day and New Year's Day) Technician Shifts: 4-10's or 3-12's -Sunday through Wednesday: 6:00am-4:30pm -Sunday through Wednesday: 4:30pm-3:00am ($2.00 per hour shift differential) -Monday through Wednesday: 3:00am-1:30pm ($2.00 per hour shift differential) -Thursday through Saturday: 4:00am-4:30pm -Thursday through Saturday: 4:30pm-4:00am ($2.00 per hour shift differential) Administration and Parts Shifts: -Monday through Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

We supply all OEM specialty tooling and any large shop equipment including diagnostic tools.

What type of break room facility is provided?

This shop provides a very nice temperature controlled break room with vending machines and an onsite cafeteria.

How many bays does your shop have?

This shop offers 4 bays.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

We average anywhere from 400-500 repair orders per month.

What is your parts ordering process?

Our technicians work with our parts clerk for all their parts needs.

What is your policy on side work?

An associate who engages in outside employment assumes the responsibility to ensure that such employment does not, in any way, interfere with their responsibilities to meet Transport Refrigeration’s performance expectation or in any way compete with Transport Refrigeration

Cafeteria in the distribution center that is available for all staff to order.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

Yes, we offer technicians the opportunity to obtain their 608 and 609 HVAC certifications. Technicians are also offered the opportunity to obtain their T4, T5, and T8 ASE certifications. Technicians are paid to obtain these certificates and are awarded with raises after completion.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

We are a nation-wide company that prefers to promote within whether that be with cross training or into a management role. Our career growth begins at the shop helper position to three different levels of technicians and all the way up to lead technician and operations manager.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We do performance based reviews; we also meet with our technicians several times each year to discuss their development path.

What type of safety training is required?

General safety training is required.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

More experienced technicians work with newer technicians through on the job training that covers best practices, diagnostic, and technical applications.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Though we're just getting started with our Grandview, WA location, our company offers youth apprenticeships for high school students.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We attend job fairs with Perry Technical College and Lakeview Technical Academy.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

This location has seen incredible growth and we are continuing to open new routes often. Growth like this will only continue to add opportunities for new technicians and associates already employed with us.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Yes. Once an applicant applies our recruiter contacts them to set up short 15 minute phone interview to discuss their previous experience.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

Our in person interviews are typically one hour with the applicant meeting with the Operations Manager of the location. Topics discussed will be past work experience, skill level determination, career goals, and ultimately to see if their are a good fit for the company culture.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

We perform a background check along with a Motor Vehicle Record check for candidates after their onsite interview. We perform a drug screen before employment begins.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

A candidate that interviews well will typically will go through a background check that can take 1-7 days to complete. Once the background check comes back, the candidate is sent an offer letter and a clinic appointment for a pre-employment drug screen. If a candidate is not the right fit for the role, they will usually receive a rejection notice within 72 hours.

The hiring process can take anywhere from 1-3 weeks to complete.

Shop Helper Pay Range: $42,000 - $50,000/year

Shop Helpers are eligible to move into the technician role.

Technician I Pay Range: $48,000 - $56,000/year

Technicians are eligible for a $3,000 sign on bonus.

Technician II Pay Range: $56,000 - $68,000/year

Technicians are eligible for a $3,000 sign on bonus.

Technician III Pay Range: $68,000 - $77,000/year

Technicians are eligible for a $3,000 sign on bonus.

Lead Technician Pay Range: $72,000 - $80,000/year

Technicians are eligible for a $3000 sign on bonus.

Parts Clerk Pay Range: $45,000 - $54,000/year

Parts Clerks are not eligible for sign on bonus.

Administrative Assistant Pay Range: $45,000 - $54,000/year

Administrative Assistants are not eligible for sign on bonus.

We offer health insurance through Anthem. Full time associates are eligible for coverage the 1st of the month following 60 days of employment. Associates are able to choose between the following: -Anthem Traditional plan which induces a $2,000 deductible for singles and a $4,000 deductible for families. -Anthem Health Savings Account (HSA) Plan that has a $4,000 deductible for singles and an $8,000 deductible for families

We offer a 401k plan through JP Morgan. All employees are auto-enrolled to contribute to their 401k on the first of the month following 60 days of employment at a 1% rate. Employer match at $0.50 per $1.00 you contribute up to 5% of your compensation

We offer a competitive PTO policy that starts accruing day one of employment. PTO is earned every pay period and is able to be used as soon as it's earned. New full time associates can expect to earn 12 days off their first year in addition to the paid holidays.

We offer 7 Paid Holidays for our associates. Full time associates are eligible for paid holidays the first of the month following 60 days of employment.
