The shop is a little over 80,000 square feet heated and Air conditioned.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

We have 38 technicians at the Lower Buckeye location.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

We are a 24/7 facility with 3 shifts. 1st shift (6am to 2pm) 2nd Shift (2pm to 10pm) 3rd shift (10pm to 8am). We do offer 10 hour shifts as well. This is a Union Shop, so all shifts are bided by seniority.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

The shop provides all hand tools above 1inch, All need software, Cummins, Wabco, Allison etc.

What type of break room facility is provided?

We have a full breakroom air conditioned with full showers and lockers.

How many bays does your shop have?

27

How many repair orders do you average per month?

Over 200 a month

What is your parts ordering process?

The Lower Buckeye facility has a full part room. Parts are suggested though the tech and ordered through the supervisor on duty. .

What is your policy on side work?

Not allowed.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

This is a Union shop. All shifts and Vacation are bided by seniority. We have an ASE Bonus program that pays up to $3000 a year. We also pay for registration fees and renewals. $500.00 tool allowance a year. We offer tool repairs program.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We are currently developing a in-house training program. Currently we use the OEM to provide training.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

Transdev is the largest Transportation company in the US. We push to promote with in. We have multiple employees that have started out as Mechanics and now are managers of shops. The growth is endless and up to the employee.

Can you describe your performance review process?

New hires are placed on a 90-day evaluation period. During this time, we evaluate the employee's skillset.

What type of safety training is required?

We follow all OSHA safety rules. All techs when hired are place on a 90-day evaluation plan and trained on all shop safety then. We also have staff meeting that include safety training.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

Managment encourages all senior techs to help mentor the upcoming staff. We also offer $1.00 training pay.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We have done Toys for tots and other programs through the community.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We are currently on the board at AAI (Arizona Automotive institute)

Where do you see the shop in five years?

in the next 5 years we will be fully involved in Electric & Hydrogen Buses

We have applications online Transdev.com that takes a couple of minutes

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

No, we would rather meet the applicant and talk in person

What do your in-person interviews entail?

We take about 30 minutes on average and ask a few questions pretraining to the position. We also want to get the person and answer any additional questions

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

Yes, on all. We go back 7 to 10 years

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

We do perform skill assessment testing, both written and hands on

We usually offer the same day but no less than 48hrs.

Master tech Pay Range: $38.00 - $79,268.00/year

Job Title: Master Technician Reports to: Maintenance Supervision Status: Non-exempt, full time Position Summary: Master Technicians must have exceptional knowledge of all vehicle systems with a high degree of proficiency in powertrain and electronics as demonstrated by a minimum of 10-years of practical experience and/or ASE Master Certification(s). They will primarily perform repairs in the powertrain and electrical systems of the vehicle. They will assist and mentor other technicians by performing diagnostics, repair planning, quality inspections and hands-on training for all vehicle systems. Essential Job Functions: • Diagnose defects, repair vehicles & Train peers as required. • Diagnose and plan repairs for other Technicians. • Diagnose and perform root cause analysis to reduce road failures. • Mentor Technicians through the application of hands-on practical training. • Perform quality inspections of other Technician’s work. • Perform PM inspections and provide fleet assessments. • Identify upgrades and/or modifications on vehicle systems and work with OEMs to create campaigns or improve processes. Required Knowledge and Skills: • Minimum of 10 years of relevant vehicle maintenance and repair experience or possess an ASE Master Certification(s) in H, T or A series along with 10 years of relevant vehicle maintenance and repair experience. • Experience in the overhaul of engines and the replacement of powertrain systems. • High voltage training, certification, or experience preferred. • Must be able to work with diagnostic equipment including OEM type computerized programs such as INSITE, WTEC, Wabco, etc. • Must have good written and oral communication skills and be able to give directions. • Must be willing to work with all classifications of technicians and assist in the development of their skills. • Must have extensive experience and knowledge of RTA or other relevant CMMS. • Forklift certified. • Must have clean driving record and can obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License, Class B with Passenger Endorsement • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical examination including a drug test. A Level Technician Pay Range: $33.00 - $68,868.00/year

Job Description Class A Mechanic Duties and Responsibilities: Ensures buses operate in a safe, comfortable, like-new condition by performing high quality maintenance repairs and inspections. Performs preventative maintenance inspections and repair on all business-related vehicles, to include heavy and light duty equipment. Diagnoses and repairs mechanical, electrical, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning), pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Rebuilds engines, transmissions, and other components. Performs road calls, on-the-road repairs, and road tests as needed. Keeps assigned work area clean and organized. Maintains DOT (Department of Transportation) card and Class B driver license. Other related duties as assigned or required. Qualifications: • Graduation from a diesel trade school preferred, a high school diploma or equivalent is required. • A valid Class B CDL with Passenger endorsement (or ability to obtain one) and excellent motor vehicle record required. • Ability to pass DOT physical and maintain valid DOT medical certification. • Three to five years' recent bus or heavy-duty truck repair experience. • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, and various heavy equipment engines, transmissions, starting and charging systems, air brake systems, electrical systems, and component overhaul procedures required. • Ability to operate hoists, machine tools and other related equipment required. • Must demonstrate the ability to work in a safe manner. • Must be able to comprehend parts books and maintenance manuals, and accurately complete any necessary reports or other documents. • Must possess basic computer knowledge. • Must have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate concerns, questions, and diagnostic information. • Must be autonomous and be self-directed. • Must have basic math skills. • Must be able to take directions and instruction well. • Must be physically agile and able to lift fifty-five (55) pounds. • Basic 2-way radio skills required. B Level Technician Pay Range: $31.00 - $65,291.00/year

Job Description Class B Mechanic Duties and Responsibilities: Perform preventative maintenance, diagnoses, and repairs minor to moderate problems on all vehicle types in the activity fleet. Class B technician's must be proficient and able to perform all aspects of the B Class Maintenance Repair Technician position. ASE certifications are encouraged and preferred. All work performed must be of the highest quality ensuring vehicles are reliable and safe. Work in such a manner that promotes a safe and productive work environment. Performs inspections on all types of vehicles and repairs systems/parts when needed Uses preventative maintenance check list to verify repairs. Repairs and inspections involve the engine, battery, lights, gauges and controls, sensitive edges, safety equipment, all interior components, transmissions, tires, breaks, undercarriage, power steering, fluids and filters and all other electrical and mechanical coach components. Completely document all work performed in RTA software. When necessary, utilize RTA to assist with properly diagnosing vehicle trends. Diagnoses and repairs coaches specifically concentrating on minor to moderate problems including engine, transmission, electrical, tires, brakes, undercarriage, power steering, fluids/filters, and mechanical defects. Utilize repair manuals and parts manuals for aid in making repairs. Inspects and verifies problems on coaches using various diagnostic equipment performs both in-house and road call coach repairs using various hand, power, pneumatic, machine (precision) and machinery tools. Cleans, repairs, and replaces coach equipment as required. Tests coaches for proper working order. Assists Class A and C technicians with repair work as required. Repairing coaches requires physical dexterity and exertion and heavy lifting. Perform other duties as assigned. C Level Technician Pay Range: $29.00 - $60,340.00/year

Job Description Class C Mechanic Duties & Responsibilities: Perform and execute all service, troubleshooting, diagnostic tests, preventative maintenance inspection, and most technical repair on vehicles and equipment using manufacturer’s technical publications and Company plans, schedules, and procedures. Executes work assignments in accordance with job standards set forth by the Company. Applies effective quality assurance practices in the performance of all work assignments to avoid repeat vehicle or equipment discrepancies and applies safe maintenance practices. Assist the Shift Supervisor to (1) execute departmental plans, programs, and procedures to meet department goals and mission requirements, (2) maintain safe reliable equipment, (3) promote a positive team effort, (4) conduct quarterly shop meetings and training, (5) report infractions of the Company’s safety and maintenance standards, rules and policies, contracts, or agreements. Reinforce the same and/or when necessary, seeks the assistance of a Company Supervisor to implement progressive discipline and (6) promote a safe and professional work environment. This position is classified as Safety Sensitive; employees in this position are subject to drug and alcohol testing as prescribed by the Federal Transit Administration. Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: • Associate degree in Medium to Heavy Duty Mechanics with one year Medium to Heavy Duty Mechanics experience preferably with transit buses but may accept same training and experience in trucking, automotive, and/or other similar equipment maintenance management. • A high school diploma or GED supplemented with one year Medium to Heavy Duty Mechanics experience and technical training (Formal or On-The-Job) preferably with transit buses but, may accept same training and experience in trucking, automotive, and/or other similar equipment maintenance management. • Prefer ASE certifications in some desired skills but may consider other certifications. • Must pass a reading and technical skills knowledge test established by the Company and provide requested documents to validate previous work experience, education, training, certification, and proficiency required by this job description. • Must have a good driving record. • Must have or be able to obtain a Ca Commercial Driver’s License – Class “B” with P endorsement. • Must pass a physical examination as prescribed by Transdev policy and as required in U.S. Department of Transportation regulations (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations 391.43) • Must pass pre-employment drug test. Knowledge required by the position: • Proven ability to use both a computerized and manual system in opening, closing and accounting of vehicle and equipment work orders, which includes man-hours, parts, materials, and tools. • Proven ability to assist a Shift Supervisor to execute maintenance plans and work schedules to ensure operational goals and requirements are maintained within the standards required by the Company. • Proven ability to assist the Shift Supervisor and/or Lead man in managing equipment life cycle overhaul and replacement using oil analysis and warranty claims. • Knowledge of FASTER NT, Fuel Master, E-Time, MS Excel and Word is most desirable for the successful candidate. • Proven skills and ability to assist the Shift Supervisor and/ or Lead man coordinate contract maintenance of equipment and facilities. • Proven ability to prepare and submit timely and accurate reports. • Proven ability to work with and deal with a work force, which is largely organized labor. • Knowledge of safety standards • Must possess tools for Class C Mechanic as established by the Company. • Forklift License • Commercial Driver License with “Passenger” endorsement. • Skilled in both verbal and written communication. • Skilled in problem solving and decision making.
