Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

The shop is heated, but does not have A/C. Fear not, we do have a Big Ass Fan swamp cooler that provides excellent comfort even when temperatures reach 100+ degrees!

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

We currently have 5 full time employees. We often have Summer part-time shop "helpers".

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (no weekends)

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

Stuttgart Autotech provides all heavy duty and technical shop tools that are required for the vehicles we work on. Technicians should have a good assortment of small hand tools and tool box.

What type of break room facility is provided?

Breakroom includes: Sofa, two lounge chairs, dining table with chairs, fridge, microwave, air fryer and Foosball table!

How many bays does your shop have?

6 lifts plus alignment rack (2 lifts for each technician)

How many repair orders do you average per month?

Average 150-175 repair orders per month. Average $ per RO $850 - $950.

What is your parts ordering process?

Front Office orders, stocks and distributes all parts.

What is your policy on side work?

You can work on your own personal vehicles and family vehicles at the shop (before/after hours or on weekends).

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

We have a close knit, cooperative and family type work environment. We do work hard, but enjoy having fun while we work!

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

Stuttgart Autotech will pay for any ASE certifications that you may want to achieve. We also work closely with all our Vendors to find and provide training opportunities on key topics that will assist your growth as a technician and benefit the shop. Some of these training opportunities are on-line, while others are in-person classroom setting training sessions.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

Can you describe your performance review process?

Every employee has an annual review. These reviews are conducted by Todd Jordan (owner) and are meant to highlight areas for growth & improvement as well as provide positive feedback. During each annual review, salary increases are a key topic.

What type of safety training is required?

None.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We have a collaborative and cooperative work environment at Stuttgart Autotech. One of our mottos is - If you don't know, ask and if you do know, tell and assist. We have a small Team here (5 employees) and we work as a Team to solve and fix problems. This can only be accomplished by sharing knowledge and helping each other for the bigger goal. Younger technicians initially work hand-in-hand with our Veteran technicians before they start to work on their own.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Through advertising and fund raisers, we help support local high schools, sports programs, Churches and other community programs for our mutual benefit.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We are partnering with Wrench Way to start to develop our relationships with schools and technicians in order to grown and keep the Automotive Service & Repair industry strong in our local community.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

Stuttgart Autotech has been in business at the same location since February 1993. Each and every year we have grown in both knowledge, skills and sales volume along with the ever evolving technology of modern day vehicles. We consider our shop on the cutting edge and will continue to learn and grow over the next several years.

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

No application form required. Resume with references is required.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

After speaking on the phone and reviewing resume, an in-person interview will be set up.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

Coming to Stuttgart Autotech to meet all the employees and see the shop. We will have an informal discussion to make sure you are a good fit for the shop, as well as make sure you would feel comfortable working here.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

Valid driver's license required.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

During the interview, will will talk about specific repairs and your familiarity will performing those repairs.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

2-3 days.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

1-2 weeks.

Student Tech / Apprentice
Student technicians work on entry level tasks while completing their school programs.
Pay Range: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00/year ($19.23 - $24.04/hr)

Just graduating from your Automotive Service Technology program or looking to work in a shop while you're attending school? Stuttgart Autotech is looking for young technicians to assist in developing their skills and start their careers. If it's the right fit, your career can start right here at Stuttgart Autotech.

Technician Pay Range: $60,000.00 - $95,000.00/year ($28.85 - $45.67/hr)

All of our employees are salaried employees (not flat-rate). Starting salary depends on experience and expertise. Pay checks (direct deposits) are paid on the last business day of each month. Employees can take a mid-month draw check if they like (taken out of month end pay). Every employee is eligible for a year end bonus based on company performance and profitability, as well as individual contributions. We have awarded bonuses each and every year. Average year end bonus over the last 10 years is $5,000/employee. Employees are eligible for year end bonus immediately.

Providence Health Plan health insurance provided and paid for by Stuttgart Autotech for each employee. Employees may add dependents at employee's expense. Employee and dependents are eligible immediately upon hire (first day of the month after hire date).
Dental Insurance Offered
Ameritas Dental Plan dental insurance offered for each employee and dependents. Dental insurance is paid by the employee. Employee and dependents are eligible immediately upon hire (first day of the month after hire date).
Vision Insurance Offered
VSP vision insurance is included in the Providence Health plan. Employee and dependents are eligible immediately upon hire (first day of the month after hire date).
Retirement Plan Offered
Stuttgart Autotech provides a 401k retirement plan. Stuttgart matches 100% up to 4% savings. Employee is eligible immediately upon hire (first day of the month after hire date).
Sick Leave Offered
Stuttgart Autotech provides 5 paid sick days per calendar year. Sick days are to be used for sick days only.
Vacation Offered
