Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

All 63,000 sqft. of shop space is heated and ventilated.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

The Salt Lake City branch is our headquarter location. It consists of >120 employees of which are split into 9 departments.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

We off 24/7 coverage. Monday - Friday with a Saturday rotation. Standard shifts are: 1st shift - 7:00AM - 3:30PM 2nd shift - 3:00PM - 11:30PM 3rd Shift - 11:00PM - 7:30AM

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

Product specific specialty tooling including diagnostic software are provided.

What type of break room facility is provided?

Multiple break rooms with lockers, wash areas, vending machines, food prep appliances, and coffee are provided.

How many bays does your shop have?

29 100ft. long service bays with a pit bay for services and overhead cranes in all bays

How many repair orders do you average per month?

550

What is your parts ordering process?

Trained parts professionals work with service writers, foremen, and technicians to ensure correct parts are efficiently sourced and delivered to the technicians.

What is your policy on side work?

Support of your family network is encouraged. Side work in direct competition to the business we do is not supported.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

Close team/family type work atmosphere. Professionals employed here are invested in the success of all other employees. Full bay lube pit for servicing equipment. Chassis dyno and 4000 horse power engine dyno. Fabrication shop and paint booth.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

Our Salt Lake City branch is a factory certified training center. Training programs are provided by the company and technicians are compensated for their time.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

Our company is heavily focused on promoting from within. Leadership is focused on finding the work that excites you and keeping your career directed in that path.

Can you describe your performance review process?

Annual reviews are mandatory, performance reviews are available upon request. Employees perform a self evaluation that is then reviewed with the employees direct supervisor.

What type of safety training is required?

New Hire Orientation, monthly OSHA safety regulation training, job specific task training, and annual MSHA (if applicable) training.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

Our culture is a close team/family atmosphere, all professional employees are heavily invested in the success of all other employees. Entry level technicians are started with journeyman technicians until brought up to speed.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We work with community associations such as, Utah Trucking Association, Utah Mining Association, Associated General Contractors, Utah Safety Council, Diesel Tech Pathways, trade schools and local high schools.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We have supplied training material (engines and transmissions) to diesel tech programs in the state. We also support those training programs with equipment specific training.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

We have experienced heavy growth including the addition of new distributorship territories and we expect that to continue.

Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

We focus on taking care of each other through taking care of the customers and the community. The stability this generates allows us to care and commit to the success and growth of our employees.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Yes, but this is typically done through emails vs. phone calls.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

The branch manager and any potential direct supervisors (depending on the applicant) will meet in an attempt to gauge qualifications, skill sets, and 5 year plan for the applicant. We try to keep this a comfortable atmosphere while we get to know each other. Typically we will give a full company overview and facility tour during this process.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

Background checks and drug screening are done post interview but prior to hiring on. Personality testing or team fit assessment is done at the in person interview.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

Yes, verbal during the interview and will be part of the 90 day post hire date review.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

While we do take the hiring process very seriously and only hire with an intent to keep the position through retirement, we are well aware of the stresses of waiting. We typically reach back out within 5 business days.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

We expect applicants to leave current employers respectfully so 2-3 weeks is the average, however in certain circumstances this can be completed in as few as 3 days.

Is there anything else you’d like to mention about your hiring process?

It is easier said than done, but to the best of your ability, approach the process with your personality rather than your stress. It is a team or even a family type atmosphere, we need to see the real you!

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $65,000.00 - $120,000.00/year

All technician positions are hourly not flat rate. Competitive rates and benefits offered. Pay range is greatly dependent on years of experience, training, certifications, capabilities, and location. Overtime work is encouraged and frequently available on market demand. **FIELD TECHNICIAN POSITION**

B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $41,600.00 - $100,000.00/year

Competitive rates and benefits offered. Pay range is greatly dependent on years of experience, training, certifications, capabilities, and location. Overtime work is encouraged and frequently available on market demand. **SHOP TECHNICIAN POSITION**
