Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

This shop will ensure a cozy and warm working environment in the winter, as there are heaters in place...and in the summer, you can enjoy a comfortable cooled environment as the shop is cooled by evaporative coolers.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

Our fabulous team boasts a total of 20 individuals: including management, staff and technicians.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

You can find us working hard to get the job done between 7:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

We ensure that our technicians are equipped with all general shop machinery: welder, torch, vehicle lifts, stationary grinding and cutting machinery.

What type of break room facility is provided?

Our team relaxes during their breaks in a full break room with kitchen appliances and refrigerators, in which are separated from shop and work areas.

How many bays does your shop have?

We have 5 spacious bays in this shop.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

We average an impressive 30 repairs per month.

What is your parts ordering process?

We ensure accuracy of the process as follows; the parts clerk will receive an electronic or verbal parts order form from the technician or shop management. They will look up the needed parts if part numbers are not provided. They will issue a PO to the vendor and place the order. The parts clerk then tracks the order to ensure it arrives as promised. Once it arrives, the part is received into inventory and placed in the designated ares for the technician.

What is your policy on side work?

If the outside employment constitutes a conflict of interest this is strictly prohibited.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

All technicians are welcome to attend a seven week, paid training program at our headquarters in Houston. We also offer various training and certifications throughout your career; all paid by us!

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

We love to see our employees grow! Career development is available to all dedicated employees. One of our regional directors started out as a Service Technician; he is a great example of the possibilities here at Siddons-Martin!

Can you describe your performance review process?

Our managers provide regular feedback starting with a 90-day evaluation, and then on a yearly basis using a comprehensive format that is rated and discussed with the employee.

What type of safety training is required?

No safety training is required in order to apply. Once hired, employees receive multi-faceted training during their initial onboarding. Our Safety department also provides monthly and annual training for all employees.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

Mentoring plays an important role in our shops. Our experienced technicians are partnered with our newer team members in order to share their knowledge and to foster teamwork and growth within the shop. Each location also has a Foreman that can help partner up technicians based on ability so that knowledge and training is constantly shared amongst the team.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We often partner or sponsor events for the local departments in our service areas.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

Partnering with Wrench Way is our first step! We hope to become more active in our local communities to create partnership opportunities through this platform.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Our hiring managers and HR team will often perform prescreen phone interviews before setting up an in-person interviews.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

At an in-person interview, we review the applicant's knowledge, skills, abilities, experiences, strengths, and weaknesses. We may also discuss career goals, ability and willingness to travel, along with other job-related topics. We also use a technician grading scale that helps us rate the applicant's abilities, current certifications and knowledge for the position.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

After an offer of employment is accepted, we launch our new hire onboarding process which involves a criminal background check, motor vehicle records check, and drug screen. For some positions, we may also require a pre-employment physical.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

During the interview process, certain technical questions are asked to help determine the skill level of a technician for various repair categories. We do not have a written skills assessment test.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

Depending on the number of applicant interviews, a rejection or offer of employment should not take more than 1-2 weeks.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

The full hiring process can take a couple of weeks to a couple of months, depending on various factors. However, once an offer of employment is made, we can generally onboard our new hires in 1 to 2 weeks' time.

Our candidate selection process, including interviews and technician evaluations, enables us to hire the best person for the role, and ensures our employees have the best opportunities for success and growth within our organization.

Technicians Pay Range: $20.00 - $45.00/hour

Our technicians' pay varies widely because we take into consideration a number of factors including years of experience, certifications, licenses, and more. However, our hourly rate is only part of our compensation! Technicians are eligible to receive periodic bonuses for obtaining certifications (paid for by us!) and they can also receive regular, additional compensation for efficiency.

Service Technicians Pay Range: $20.00 - $45.00/hour

Our technicians' pay varies widely because we take into consideration a number of factors including years of experience, certifications, licenses, and more. However, our hourly rate is only part of our compensation! Technicians are eligible to receive periodic bonuses for obtaining certifications (paid for by us!) and they can also receive regular, additional compensation for efficiency.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield PPO Plan We offer 3 choices for employees - two High Deductible Health Plans and a Traditional Co-Pay plan. Employees enrolled in a High Deductible Health plan are eligible to participate in an HSA (Health Savings Account). Employee contributions are matched by Siddons-Martin Emergency Group up to a maximum of $1,000 (Employee only coverage) and $2,000 (Employee + coverage). All employees and eligible dependents are also eligible for employer paid Teladoc with no co-pay. This service is available 24/7.
