What is the size of the team I’d be working with?
Our Hyundai team is currently comprised of 11 technicians.
What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?
We are open from 7-6 Monday-Friday and 8-4 on Saturdays.
What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?
Alignment rack, tire machine, manufacturer-required special tools, BG flush machines.
What type of break room facility is provided?
Our technicians enjoy their own break room within our shop!
How many bays does your shop have?
Our shop has 16 bays divided between two buildings.
How many repair orders do you average per month?
We average 60 per day and 1500 per month.
What is your parts ordering process?
Parts are ordered through parts department in consultation with the technicians.
What is your policy on side work?
Side work on personal and family vehicles are allowed after-hours as long as each vehicle has an open RO.
Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?
The service advisor team includes two Sheehy Elite service advisors. We hold fun events every month to appreciate our associates like bowling, breakfast, and once a year all Sheehy associates and family members get to go to King's Dominion for Sheehy family fun day!
Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?
Paid manufacturer training for all positions is available.
Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?
We love to promote from within! We have a training plan to get express technicians through to main shop technicians and to follow the manufacturer training plan to become a master technician. Technicians who follow the training plan can achieve master technician status in only two years!
Can you describe your performance review process?
We do a 6-month review after the hire date, as well as annual reviews.
What type of safety training is required?
We hold monthly safety meetings to ensure company guidelines and OSHA guidelines are being followed.
Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?
Younger technicians enter an apprenticeship program to formally learn from senior technicians, but we also encourage on ongoing informal culture of learning whenever time allows.
How does your shop get involved with the local community?
Yes. We do annual school supply drives, toy drives, and blood drives.
Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?
Yes, we hold monthly lunch and learn events at Lincoln Tech. We also have a local high school technical trainer who has students who do half-day and summer apprenticeships at the store.
Where do you see the shop in five years?
We want to have 2-3 new master technicians grown from within, some of whom will come from our current express technicians who have graduated from the apprenticeship program.
Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?
Yes, we have an application form and it takes just a few minutes to complete.
Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?
Yes. Usually a 5-10 minute phone screen is completed prior to an in-person interview.
What do your in-person interviews entail?
A discussion of work history, the candidate's personal goals, the work environment provided and the type of growth we would like to see within the facility. Candidates should bring a resume and copy of current ASE documentation if available, as well as any manufacturer certification completed if applicable.
Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?
Yes, we conduct background checks and drug screening prior to hiring an applicant. Applicants must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and avoid the use of illegal drugs.
Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?
No.
After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?
Responses are provided within a week of the in-person interview.
Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?
7-10 days.

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $0 - $150,000/year
Flat rate compensation is provided based on experience and certifications
B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $0 - $100,000/year
Flat rate compensation is provided based on experience and certifications
C Level Technician
C Level Technicians are more of entry level technicians. C Level Technicians’ responsibilities typically include basic maintenance, alignments, brake and suspension work, along with other base level repairs.
Pay Range: $0 - $80,000/year
Flat rate compensation is provided based on experience
Lube Technician
Lube Technicians are entry level technicians that focus on routine maintenance such as oil changes, changing tires, and inspections.
Pay Range: $18 - $25/year
This is per flat rate hour. Additional compensation provided with completed ASEs
Student Tech / Apprentice
Student technicians work on entry level tasks while completing their school programs.
Pay Range: $14 - $18/hour
This rate is per clock hour.
