Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

The shop is fully climate controlled all year around.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

Express technicians work in two man teams, while other technicians do not currently work on teams.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Technicians work 10 hour shifts The shop hours are: 7:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday Closed on Sundays

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

Express technicians are provided with all tools necessary to do the job. All other technicians are to provide their own tools.

What type of break room facility is provided?

There is a break room with vending machines, a refrigerator, a microwave and tables to sit.

How many bays does your shop have?

There are 23 climate controlled bays.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

We average around 2200 repair orders each month.

What is your parts ordering process?

Advisors and technicians order parts through x-time or directly through our parts specialists.

What is your policy on side work?

All vehicles must be associated with a repair order to enter the shop.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

Uniforms are provided at no cost to the technicians.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

Nissan hosts ongoing training for all technicians to help stay current on their product knowledge and ahead of changing technology.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

Our service managers were promoted from entry level service positions to their current leadership role. As such, we beleive strongly in developing our talent and promoting from within. We always look to promote from within rather than hire leadership from outside the organization.

Can you describe your performance review process?

The service manager and the shop foreman sit down once a year and discuss strengths, weaknesses, and overall performance with each technician. Generally, bonus plans are designed to support tech development and growth.

What type of safety training is required?

Safety training is a top priority at Scott Clark Nissan. Our recurring in-house safety training and 3rd party training includes certifying our lifts and our stringent compliance to OSHA safety protocols

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We offer in-house accreditation programs for new techs working with their supervisors in order to accrue master-level skills on jobs. Unlike other dealers, your potential will not be capped at Scott Clark Nissan. Certified Nissan mentors will help you win within our team.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We support multiple local non-profit agency's and school districts with an emphasis on helping students prepare for the workforce. Scott Clark Toyota is a people-oriented, family-first business committed to the success and wellbeing of its employees, staff and Community. In the past we have partnered with Union County Public Schools, Charlotte Mecklenburg Public Schools, Riley's Catch, and many more local non profits. We are not only a community business but a community partner!

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We are dedicated to helping students succeed by providing an immersive internship experience within the Scott Clark Auto Group. CMS and Union County students gain access to a robust network of relationships within our dealer group. Students interested in Auto I & II are invited to participate in a semester long internship in our service department. The Scott Clark Accelerator for Leadership and Education is another example of our innovation and commitment to the Charlotte community.

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

Our application is easy and efficient. Once submitted, you will complete a drug screen and background check. This process typically takes around 1 week to complete.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

We phone phone screen applications at our discretion based off of what we see in the resume.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

Our in-person interviews provide you the opportunity to meet with our shop foreman and/or service director. You will get to know our team, and we will get to know you. You will have an opportunity to share your skill set, and we will be able to ask about aptitude for the position you are applying for.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

We require a background check and drug screening prior to hiring. Additionally you must have a valid drivers license and clean driving record.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

Yes, the applicant will be asked situational questions from the shop foreman to help determine their current skill set.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

It takes on average 3 days pending the drug screen and background check.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

The process from start to end, takes no longer than 1-2 weeks pending the drug screen and background check.

Service Advisor
Service Advisors are primarily customer focused and, as one of the faces of the shop, they are critical in keeping customers happy. Service Advisors are frequently focused on taking customer calls, relaying information to technicians, and selling repair jobs. Both technical and sales experience are helpful for this position.
Pay Range: $45,000 - $100,000/year

This is a commission based salary

Nissan Master Technician Pay Range: $27 - $32/hour

Compensation is flat-rate and may be flexible based on experience, skills, certifications, and efficiency. Production bonuses are paid weekly

Senior Specialist Pay Range: $23 - $26/hour

Compensation is flat-rate and may be flexible based on experience, skills, certifications, and efficiency. Production bonuses are paid weekly

Specialist Pay Range: $21 - $25/hour

Compensation is flat-rate and may be flexible based on experience, skills, certifications, and efficiency. Production bonuses are paid weekly

Technician Pay Range: $20 - $24/hour

Compensation is flat-rate and may be flexible based on experience, skills, certifications, and efficiency. Production bonuses are paid weekly

Trainee Pay Range: $12 - $22/hour

Compensation is flat-rate and may be flexible based on experience, skills, certifications, and efficiency. Production bonuses are paid weekly

Express Technician Pay Range: $12 - $14/hour

Compensation is flat-rate and may be flexible based on experience, skills, certifications, and efficiency.

Used Car Tech Pay Range: $16 - $17/year

Compensation is flat-rate and may be flexible based on experience, skills, certifications, and efficiency. Production bonuses are paid weekly

Offered through Blue Cross Blue Shield. We are committed to helping you and your dependents maintain your health and wellness by providing you with access to the highest levels of care. We offer you a choice of two medical plan options. Both plans utilize the same network of providers and include coverage if you choose to go out-of-network.
Dental Insurance Offered
Offered through Delta Dental. You have an option of two dental plans: a PPO plan, offering you in- and out-of-network coverage, and a DHMO plan, which only offers in-network benefits.
Vision Insurance Offered
Offered through Ameritas. The Ameritas Focus vision care benefits includes coverage for eye exams, standard lenses and frames, contact lenses, and discounts for laser surgery. The vision plan is built around a network of eye care providers, with better benefits at a lower cost to you when you use providers who belong to the VSP Choice network.
Retirement Plan Offered
Employees are provided with a 401 (k). We contribute $.50 to your account for every $1.00 you contribute, up to 4% of your eligible pay.
Sick Leave Offered
Offered through Voya Financial, Inc. You have the option to enroll in Voluntary Accident or Critical Illness plans through Voya. These plans pay a cash benefit directly to you if you have a covered accident or critical illness. You don’t have to be enrolled in the major medical plan to enroll, and these benefits are guaranteed issue, renewable and portable.
Vacation Offered
Regular full time employees are eligible for paid vacation that accrues overtime.
Paid Holidays Offered
5 major holidays; technicians receive eight (8) hours of holiday pay at their flat rate in effect on the holiday.
ST / LT Disability Offered
Offered through Mutual of Omaha ST- Benefits can begin on the 8th day following an accident or illness, and last for up to 12 weeks. If you are still disabled after that time, your Long-Term Disability benefits will start. LT- Benefits being following the Short-Term Disability benefits your Long-Term will begin, and will eliminate after 90 days.
Life Insurance Offered
Offered through Mutual of Omaha. Basic Life and AD&D insurance which covers $10,000. Voluntary Life and AD&D Insurance (ADDITIONAL) you have the option to purchase up to $400,000 for yourself and up to $100,000 for your spouse. Lifetime term insurance - Offered through Chubb
Uniforms Offered
Uniforms are provided to all employees.
