Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

With an average temperature of 57.97 degrees Fahrenheit the shop isn't heated or cooled at this time. We are currently going through a remodel in which air-conditioning is being added to the shop.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

Our current team consist of the following: Two Service Advisors. Four Technicians. One Appointment Coordinator.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Our shop hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

Manufacturer supplied special tools.

What type of break room facility is provided?

Basic break room with table and chairs.

How many bays does your shop have?

We have six shop bays currently and will be additional an additional 5 with our remodel.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

On average we write 200+ repair orders per month.

What is your parts ordering process?

Technicians get requisitions from the parts department, service, advisors, verify coverage, or sell the job and then order parts.

What is your policy on side work?

We do Not allow side work.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

You get to work on the best exotics vehicles the world has to offer.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

All staff requires manufactures training. Many courses are online. Several live classes provided by factories.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

We love to promote from within.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We perform monthly performance reviews and objective setting for staff members.

What type of safety training is required?

California OSHA training provided by employer.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

The Shop Foreman and Senior Technicians are always more than happy to help when any questions about diagnosis or repairs.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We sponsor many local events through out the year.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We currently don't have any programs with local High schools or Tech schools.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

With the amount of New and Preowned vehicles sold over the last few years an increased shop capacity and volume by 50% is the goal.

Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

We love to grow from within and the Automotive industry is a great field to be in.

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

To complete an application takes roughly 10 to 15 minutes. If you have a resume that is great also.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Yes, we do a phone screen pre-employment interview over the phone prior to scheduling a live in person interview.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

In person, interviews may be a joint interview between management, staff, or the specific supervisor for that department. If you are a Technician most of the time the Shop Foreman will be involved.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

All would be employees go through a comprehensive background check and drug screening before a job offer is made.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

For Technical staff, ASE, and previous work experience is considered. For Service Advisors previous work experience is considered.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

Normally once the pre-employment paperwork is completed it can take about one week to get the screening done.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

Most of the time its shouldn't take longer than two weeks. But can take up to 15 to 30 days depending on background check.

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $40.00 - $50.00/hour

Compensation will vary depending on skill set and unique certifications. ASE’s not required, but are beneficial.

B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $30.00 - $40.00/year

Compensation will vary depending on skill set and unique certifications. ASE’s not required, but are beneficial.

Service Advisor
Service Advisors are primarily customer focused and, as one of the faces of the shop, they are critical in keeping customers happy. Service Advisors are frequently focused on taking customer calls, relaying information to technicians, and selling repair jobs. Both technical and sales experience are helpful for this position.
Pay Range: $60,000.00 - $180,000.00/year

Wages will vary depending on individual performance and bonus programs set in place. High level of customer satisfaction and communication is key to your success. Being able to multi-task is very important.
