What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

Teams of 4 - 8 depending on area of shop

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Monday - Friday 8AM - 4:30PM Overtime optional / seasonal

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

$500 Annual Tool Allowance

What type of break room facility is provided?

Clean, heated/air-conditioned break room includes TV, microwave, fridge and Bernick's micro-mart meal on the go options.

How many bays does your shop have?

4 - 8 depending on the area of the shop

How many repair orders do you average per month?

80 to 100 per month (Includes Bus and Truck ROs)

What is your parts ordering process?

Our parts department manages the ordering for our technicians.

What is your policy on side work?

We do not currently have a policy regarding side work.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

Fresh Fruit Mondays Donut Fridays Team members are encouraged to collaborate with each other to be successful

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

Blue Bird Academy Access Skills-based training program through Brainier LMS

We believe in team members having a career long term with us and provide opportunities for growth and development as team members desire.

Can you describe your performance review process?

90-Day Performance Review with Supervisor Annual review based on the anniversary date

What type of safety training is required?

We do regular safety training on site. Most is through logging into the training platform. Forklift training is a series of classroom and hands-on evaluations.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

New team members are assigned to shadow seasoned techs during the first 90 days of employment. Our ownership mindset to work gives techs stop work authority to assist other team members as needed.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We partner with United Way and other private organizations to volunteer within the community. Team members are provided 4 hours VTO (volunteer time off) to encourage community involvement.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We speak at high schools and attend job fairs. We participate in EPIC (Exploring Potential Interests and Careers) $500 annual scholarship each year through the St. Cloud Technical and Community College Diesel Program.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Yes

What do your in-person interviews entail?

The call takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete. We tell the candidate about the company and the role. We asked 3 - 4 questions about skill set.

Field Service Technician Pay Range: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00/year ($36.06 - $38.46/hr)
