Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

Yes, both the Service and Collision Center shop bay areas are equipped with heating and air conditioning.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

In the service department we have approximately 36 employees with 14 diesel technicians and 7 field diesel technicians with 1 lead field diesel technician. We have two shop supervisors, a service manager and an assistant service manager. We have 6 employees In the collision center, 5 body technicians and a manager. We have approximately 27 employees in the parts department. The dealership has a total headcount of approximately 86 employees.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Due to COVID we had to make some adjustments to our hours of operation. Currently we are open Monday - Friday from 7:00am to 7:00pm and Saturday from 7:30am - 4:00pm. We have two shifts that run approximately from 7:00am - 3:30pm and 10:30am - 7:00pm. We will re-evaluate our hours of operation as Covid related barriers start to resolve.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

The shop provides all proprietary tools for Detroit, Freightliner, and Cummins.

What type of break room facility is provided?

We have a break room in the service shop area and the collision center shop area. Both include tables, chairs, refrigerator, microwave and a sink. The break rooms also have recently updated vending machines. We will also be adding in some picnic areas for the warmer weather.

How many bays does your shop have?

33 Service Bays 17 Collision Center Bays

How many repair orders do you average per month?

Approximately 700 per month.

What is your parts ordering process?

Parts are ordered daily and arrive the next morning. It is an automated system based on parts demand and prior sales.

What is your policy on side work?

Outside work that constitutes a conflict of interest is prohibited.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

We are an Elite dealership which means we are continuously looking to improve our work environment and processes.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

Premier Truck Group has a team of in-house Dealer Trainers to ensure our technicians are up to speed on the latest and best training.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

Premier Truck Group is consistently growing and adding new dealerships to our footprint. With this growth, there are a lot of new positions created and opportunities for growth and advancement. We post all positions internally and interview internal candidates first.

Can you describe your performance review process?

All employees are reviewed on an annually basis related to their anniversary.

What type of safety training is required?

Yes, the safety of our employees and customers and is a top priority at Premier Truck Group.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We have mentorships in place to help younger technicians entering the industry. Younger technicians are partnered with a senior level tech.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

All of our dealership have Community Involvement Committees that work together to identify Premier Truck Group sponsored community events. PTG offers all employees one paid day a year to participate in one of these community involvement events.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We do a ton of work to support and recruit from high school and tech schools. Premier Truck Group currently has partnerships with over 40 technical schools throughout the US and Canada to support and hire into the profession.

Where do you see the shop in five years?


Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

We do have you complete an application, once you have expressed interest in Premier Truck Group and have we have chatted a bit. It should take you 10-15 minutes to complete.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

We do conduct short phone screens to make sure we are a good fit you and you are a great fit for us! We want you to feel confident in choosing Premier Truck Group.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

In-person interviews are held with the dealership's Human Resources Representative, Service Manager, and General Manager. Most often these happen during a single visit, so we are efficient in making sure you meet all the right people.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

We do conduct background checks and drug screening.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?


After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?


Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

This completely depends on how quickly you do your part. After application and interviews, the background and reference checks are generated once our candidates input the needed information. If a candidate is quick to get their information entered, we are able to move quickly.

Is there anything else you’d like to mention about your hiring process?

Premier Truck Group lives out the motto of "tough to get in, tougher to leave." We are very intentional in our hiring practices to ensure we are the right fit for you, thus "tough to get in." All Technicians (Service and Collision) Pay Range: $0 - $0/year

We offer highly competitive pay to our technicians of all levels. Our techs are paid on a flat rate basis, which allows the opportunity to make more money at your pace.

Provider: Blue Cross Blue Shield We offer a number of plans to meet your family's needs: Employee, Employee plus Spouse, Employee plus child(ren), and Employee plus Family. Medical plans offered include a Health Savings Account. After one year of service, an employer contribution is offered to employee's participating in HSA funding.

Provider: Delta Dental This plan offers two free cleaning per year!

Provider: Eyemed Vision premium is covered by Premier Truck Group for employee only coverage on our base plan.
