Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

The shop is heated. Well ventilated in the summer.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

There is a shop manager, service writer, 3 automotive technicians, 3 diesel technicians. 2 tire technicians. This in in addition to interns. There is an office manager.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Shop is open from 7:30-5 week days and 7:30-12 Saturday. Shifts are 8-9 hours long.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

Computer and scan tools. Specialty tools. 3/4 and larger impacts.

What type of break room facility is provided?

Large space with full kitchen including oven, microwave and refrigerator. Fully stocked with kitchen supplies.

How many bays does your shop have?

Automotive side has 6 bays. Large truck has 6 truck. 1 tire bay.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

There is enough work to keep all technicians gainfully employed. The shop has opportunity to grow with more techs.

What is your parts ordering process?

Every technician orders their own parts. There is not a parts employee at staff.

What is your policy on side work?

No side work during business hours but otherwise acceptable.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

Wireless mobile rolling lifts are available. In addition to a 30,000lb and 20,000lb drive on lift.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

Yes, always promoting continuing education and approved classes are paid for by the company.

We always look to promote from within. Growth can be by retirement or growing skill set.

Can you describe your performance review process?

Annual performance review with merit discussion. Daily conversation and interaction with mangers.

What type of safety training is required?

Forklift certification is required and provided by the company. Expectation to work safely and in compliance following all PPE.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

Job shadow type program with opportunity to work on own once trained. There is a verity of technicians with different skill sets for consultation.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Local volunteer opportunities and local customer base.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

Yes, career fairs and contact with school counselors.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

Continued growth and success with strong bottom line. We envision retaining current staff and recruiting additional co-workers.

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $80,000 - $100,000/year

Set hourly rate with bonus incentives

B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $60,000 - $80,000/year

Set hourly rate with bonus incentives

Student Tech / Apprentice
Student technicians work on entry level tasks while completing their school programs.
Pay Range: $14 - $18/hour

Set hourly rate with tuition options.
