Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

Heated; A/C in office, lobby, parts room only.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

4-5 technicians; 2-3 sales/admin employees.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday-Thursday and 8:00am to 4:00pm Friday. No weekend hours/shifts.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

Diagnostic tools including Autel, Launch, and Snap-on Triton. Vehicle programming equipment including J-box and RAP/Drewtech.

What type of break room facility is provided?

Employee kitchen with refrigerator, microwave and water cooler. Employee restroom and private seating area outside of customer lounge.

How many bays does your shop have?

10 bays total, 6 lifts.

How many repair orders do you average per month?


What is your parts ordering process?

Service Advisor orders parts, maintains inventory and processes returns. Inventory of common parts maintained in-house, same day delivery from suppliers.

What is your policy on side work?

Side work is acceptable as long as it isn't taken from company clientele.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

ASE certification testing and ATRA certification testing provided by company.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

Continued training and increased production lead to incremental raises/bonus/promotion to next level technician or advisor position.

Can you describe your performance review process?

90 day review after hire, 6 month review and annual review to determine promotion/raise in pay.

What type of safety training is required?


Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

Younger techs work with experienced techs on repairs until tech shows proficiency.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

BBB member, Chamber of Commerce member and local team/event sponsorships.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?


Where do you see the shop in five years?

Similar to today. We are training on newer vehicle technology and high-end vehicles that our competition isn't able to repair. We are a specialty shop and are building a clientele within a specialized market focused on high-end, high quality repairs and restorations.

Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

Daytona Beach is a very automotive/motorsport focused community as well as a vacation destination. We participate and sponsor multiple classic car and racing events. Most of our clientele comes to us by word of mouth, including referrals from groups in other states. It's not uncommon for high-end vehicles to come to us by carrier from other states for repairs and restoration. We maintain an active online dialogue with new and potential customers and have achieved excellent online reviews and rankings.

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

Completion of our written application is the first step in our hiring process.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

When we receive a new application a phone screening is completed prior to meeting in person.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

We discuss the applicant's work and educational history, areas of exceptional skill or interest, expectations of employees, long term goals of company and applicant, and a tour of facility.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

We perform background checks, including contacting prior employers and references as well as drug testing.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?


After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

Generally an offer or rejection will occur within one week. If the position applied for is not immediately available we maintain communication with the applicant to arrange a start date.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

Generally the complete process takes 2-3 weeks.

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $60,000 - $85,000/year

A Level technician is an ATRA Master Transmission Rebuilder with knowledge on Asian, European and domestic transmission rebuilding. Minimum 10 years rebuilding experience.

B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $40,000 - $60,000/year

B Level technician is ASE master certified (A series only) with experience in transmission R&R. Technician must be equally qualified in general automotive repair and transmission R&R. Knowledge/experience in Asian, European and domestic vehicle diagnosis and repair.

C Level Technician
C Level Technicians are more of entry level technicians. C Level Technicians’ responsibilities typically include basic maintenance, alignments, brake and suspension work, along with other base level repairs.
Pay Range: $30,000 - $40,000/year

C Level technician is ASE certified in Automatic Transmission/Transaxle and Manual Drive Train & Axles (A2 and A3). Minimum 5 years experience in transmission R&R on Asian, European and domestic vehicles.

Service Advisor
Service Advisors are primarily customer focused and, as one of the faces of the shop, they are critical in keeping customers happy. Service Advisors are frequently focused on taking customer calls, relaying information to technicians, and selling repair jobs. Both technical and sales experience are helpful for this position.
Pay Range: $40,000 - $60,000/year

Service Advisor has excellent customer service/sales experience. Knowledge of vehicle diagnostics and repair with good organizational skills. Minimum 5 years automotive repair/sales experience.
