Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

The shop is fully heated. Big ass and ancillary fans installed for the warmer months.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

We currently have 3 full time mechanics, with one doing about 50% collision and body work. We have 7 bays total and large paint booth in the rear section of the building.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Mechanics work Mon-Fri, 8-5PM. No weekends. Very occasional overtime.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

We have 6 overhead racks (one at 14K drive on unit for larger vehicles), welding equipment, 20 ton press, brake lathe, tire changing and balance machine (1 yr old), parts washer, overhead creeper.

What type of break room facility is provided?

In shop area or in the back of service center.

How many bays does your shop have?

7 total. 6 in front, 1 on opposite side of building. Full paint booth facility.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

250

What is your parts ordering process?

Front desk orders all parts via computer or phone based on mechanics list of parts

What is your policy on side work?

Side work is not a problem. Must be done on your own time and not on the property.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

Modern (new construction 2004), stand-alone, very well-maintained facility. Family Owned and Operated – in business 30 years.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We offer full tuition reimbursement of any auto related repair courses our employees choose to take that will further their career and knowledge at PRSC.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

We are always looking to upgrade our tech's level and salary as it applies to your increase in technical skills, as well as efficiency in your current role.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We strive to have a PR with our people at least once a year, but one on one impromptu discussions are always welcome at any time.

What type of safety training is required?

Basic on-the-job training as required to do your job as safe as is possilbe.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

All of our current techs are experienced in directing younger techs to do a job while at the same time continually observing and offering best practices. Also, jobs are given with increasing complexity at the rate someone is able to take a new project on.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Member of the local Chamber of Commerce. Support at local civic or church events, including donations.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

Not at this time.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Yes, we typically do this and find it very effective.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

Sit down and learn about an applicants background and experience and also briefly get to know them from a personal standpoint. This is followed by us fully describing our business operations, background, and then what the job opening entails. Back and forth questions are very important part of the interview. Final step is a full tour of our facility and meeting other techs.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

We occasionally do background checks and drug screening. Also will do a driving history to make sure our new employees are fully insurable to drive customers cars etc.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

We do not, other than talking through an applicants skill level and experience and perhaps ask a few casual questions about how he or she would handle an example repair situation.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

We are happy to take the time to sit down and talk in depth with any qualified applicant!

B Level Technician Pay Range: $16.00 - $25.00/hour

We offer a 90 day trial period for both our shop and the applicant to make sure both sides are happy! Many times, excellent performance can mean an increase in pay at that point

C Level Technician Pay Range: $14.00 - $18.00/hour

Basic mechanic skills and experience. Can work effectively with a little direction and oversite. Willing to learn from senior techs and work on whatever is needed.

We offer 1 week pay per year after your first 12 months. 2 weeks pay after 24 months. We typically are closed for the first week of July every year.
