What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with an occasional Saturday.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

All the equipment we have in our shop is state of the art equipment that is updated and well-maintained. All technicians are required to have their own basic tools, but we provide everything that is specialty as well as diagnostic tools.

What type of break room facility is provided?

Our break room facility is recently updated with a locker room and you have a designated break room to take breaks in.

What is your parts ordering process?

We utilize a digital MPI and Texting system. This makes it so we don't even have a parts counter. Parts are delivered right to your bay to help efficiency and make it easier on the technicians.

What is your policy on side work?

We do not allow side work at our facilities. Every vehicle in the shop must have a repair order. No side work allowed, every vehicle in the shop must have a repair order.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

We hold a high standard of keeping our facilities clean, organized and maintained.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

As soon as you start with us - we will set you up on a career path. Whether you want to continue on as a technician or learn your way into management - we can help you. We offer independent training as well as manufacturer training.

We have long term employees that started out in areas like porters, detail and express that are now fully certified. We can offer a career path that fits you from full certified to management. We have the potential and opportunities for you.

Can you describe your performance review process?

Our process is to review regularly. Once a year isn't enough. Our leadership team will make sure that we are on the right path with each technician so we are continually investing in them. This could be side conversations or formal sit downs quarterly.

What type of safety training is required?

We have an online course to take and have our own risk management employees that assist you.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

Our mentor technicians are graded as well as the apprentice monthly. We keep them with their mentor as long as needed.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We work closely with all schools in our area as well as nationally known colleges to encourage the trade schools and help educate the students on career opportunities they can have.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

Phil Long has been growing very quickly and believe the growth to come in the next 5 years will be extraordinary. We will continue to invest in our technicians, equipments and service departments to continue servicing the need in our communities. We also may add more shops, bays and make updates to more of our facilities.

We encourage our team to invest in themselves and we will too! We want them to be strong staples in the community. That will keep us as leaders in the industry.

Yes, it is very simple. It will take about 10 minutes.

One to two managers from the store will be doing the interviews, separately.

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $85,000 - $250,000/year

Service Advisor
Service Advisors are primarily customer focused and, as one of the faces of the shop, they are critical in keeping customers happy. Service Advisors are frequently focused on taking customer calls, relaying information to technicians, and selling repair jobs. Both technical and sales experience are helpful for this position.
Pay Range: $45,000 - $175,000/year

Student Tech / Apprentice
Student technicians work on entry level tasks while completing their school programs.
Pay Range: $14 - $16/hour

Our student apprentice technicians are technicians we want to invest in for the future. We offer tuition assistance as well as a competitive base. We'll even help with tool costs.
