Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

The shop is heated and in July will receive a new Epoxy floor that will pass both ADA and OSHA slip resistance standards, painted walls and ceiling with new light fixtures and air-conditioning.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

We presently have 13 Service Technicians

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

-All Manufacture required tool -Tool Allowance available

What type of break room facility is provided?

An air-conditioned break room and training room is provided.

How many bays does your shop have?

The service shop has a total of 20 service bays.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

Pape Chevrolet averages 770 ROs per month.

What is your parts ordering process?

Our parts ordering process is manufacture recommended that is facilitated with internal data processing.

What is your policy on side work?

Side work is not allowed due to both health and insurance liabilities.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

Manufacture and ASE training is paid for by the employer.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

Our philosophy has always been to promote from within when key positions are available.

Annual performance review processes are available.

What type of safety training is required?

OEM, OSHA, and State safety required training is available on an ongoing basis.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

Our technicians work as a team and therefore help one another service vehicles with the utmost customer safety in mind.

Maine Automobile Dealer Association (MADA) works closely with various local high schools and tech schools, setting the foundation for future employment with local dealerships. 

Where do you see the shop in five years?

The shop will be the guiding support of future vehicle technology.

Employment offers can range from the moment of the initial interview to up to 3 days.

Communication between both Pape Chevrolet and the potential new hire is key and therefore can range from hours to 5 days.

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $70,000 - $130,000/year

Rate per hour per flat rate produced.

B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $50,000 - $70,000/year

Rate per hour per flat rate produced.

C Level Technician
C Level Technicians are more of entry level technicians. C Level Technicians’ responsibilities typically include basic maintenance, alignments, brake and suspension work, along with other base level repairs.
Pay Range: $30,000 - $50,000/year

Service Advisor
Service Advisors are primarily customer focused and, as one of the faces of the shop, they are critical in keeping customers happy. Service Advisors are frequently focused on taking customer calls, relaying information to technicians, and selling repair jobs. Both technical and sales experience are helpful for this position.
Pay Range: $45,000 - $75,000/year

Commission Based

Collision Technician - A Level Pay Range: $50,000 - $80,000/year

Rate per hour per flat rate produced.

Dental Insurance Offered
We are self-insured under MADA (Maine Automobile Dealer Association) with a comprehensive dental plan that covers Employee Only (EO) and/or Employee with Family (EF).
Vision Insurance Offered
We are self-insured under MADA (Maine Automobile Dealer Association) with a comprehensive vision plan that covers Employee Only (EO), Employee & Spouse (ES), Employee & Child (EC) and Employee with Family (EF).
Retirement Plan Offered
Pape Employee 401(k) Plan is offered to all employees after 90 days of employment followed by the next first quarter. Participation levels start at 6% in order to get the company match of 3%.
Sick Leave Offered
A total of 6 days is available for you as sick leave or personal time off, (PTO).
Vacation Offered
All new hires are allocated three (3) weeks of vacation, which starts on your date of hire.
