What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

18 mechanics, 4 service advisors, 2 warranty admins, service manager

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Day shift = Mon -Fri 7:30am - 4:00pm night shift = Mon-Thu 4:00pm - 2:00am Each tech works one out of every 5 Saturdays 7:30am - 12:00 noon

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

Each tech is issued a laptop to access OEM diagnostic steps and procedures. Company supplies scan tools for all lines that are serviced at O'Connor's. Specialty hard tools are provided in tool crib. Shop offers top of the line alignment equipment made by Hunter and new A/C machines for A/C service.

What type of break room facility is provided?

Small break room with refrigerator; most guys take a break at or near their bays or outside at picnic table.

What is your parts ordering process?

Techs work with service writers and back counter to order parts.

What is your policy on side work?

Techs can use bay's to work on their personal vehicles, on their own time, when/if bays are not being used.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We offer factory training for each of our 9 manufacturers. Each include both online and in person classes. Travel, lodging and expenses are paid for when needed for in person training.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

O'Connor is a big company with multiple departments each representing opportunity for career growth. Mechanics can take factory training as far as they want to.

Can you describe your performance review process?

Manager's discretion; no less than once a year. We reward hard work and make sure everyone is working towards the same goals.

What type of safety training is required?

Once a year, basic chemical and equipment safety training.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We all try to help each other in whatever way is needed. We consider ourselves a team and work together to accomplish our goal of providing exemplary customer service.

Yes, less than 10 minutes

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Most applicants start with a short phone call but it is not required. If you are in the area and want to stop in, the manager or shop foreman will meet with you, if they are available, anytime

Question and answers, shop tour; basically a "get to know each other to see if we would be a good fit for each other

We perform background checks. No drug screen and no personality test.

No skill assessment, just an employment physical.

Service Advisor
Service Advisors are primarily customer focused and, as one of the faces of the shop, they are critical in keeping customers happy. Service Advisors are frequently focused on taking customer calls, relaying information to technicians, and selling repair jobs. Both technical and sales experience are helpful for this position.
Pay Range: $45,000 - $75,000/year ($21.63 - $36.06/hr)

Based on experience. Pay is hourly plus a month end incentive when goals are met.

Heavy Duty Diesel Technician Pay Range: $50,000 - $100,000/year ($24.04 - $48.08/hr)
