Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

The Miller Pipeline maintenance shop is within a recently built, temperature controlled facility.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

A team of 7 equipment mechanics work in the Indianapolis location.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

The day shift starts at either 6:30 or 7:30 AM. The team usually works a 50-hour week (10 hours overtime included).

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

Miller Pipeline provides all specialty tools and equipment.

What type of break room facility is provided?

A large break room is located right off the warehouse with a nice kitchenette and a drink vending machine, plus television.

What is your parts ordering process?

The parts ordering process is currently handled by our warehouse parts specialist.

What is your policy on side work?

Side work is permitted as long as it does not interfere with your performance at Miller Pipeline.

Miller Pipeline has been involved in local job fairs at high schools and community colleges.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

We are working towards all mechanics earning these credentials: Ford OEM Certified John Deere Certified Hunter Alignment Certified ASE Master Technicians Facility Automotive ASE HVAC Certified

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

Our online application is necessary to get your payroll file started. It takes about 5-10 minutes to complete.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Yes, we either phone screen or go ahead and bring the candidates for an in-person interview. A Zoom interview is also an option.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

The manager will get to know you and your work style, then show you the maintenance shop.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

After offering you the job, we will complete a background check (federal and county criminal background) and DOT drug screen.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?


After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

Usually 2-3 days.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

You can expect a full hiring process of about 2-3 weeks, including notice you would need to give your current employer.

Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic Pay Range: $49,920 - $60,320/year ($24.00 - $29.00/hr)

In addition, we offer regular overtime; low-cost, high-quality insurance coverage; free life insurance and disability coverage; ASE certifications paid by the company; boot and glove reimbursements each year; time off and holidays, plus a yearly opportunity for merit increases and bonus.

Health Insurance Offered
United Healthcare Medical and Prescription Drug Plan Employee Only coverage ranges from $15.99 - $29.92 per week. Family coverage ranges $62.30 - $92.75 per week.
Dental Insurance Offered
Cigna Employee Only coverage starts at $1.82 per week. Family coverage is $6.59 - $10.55 per week.
Vision Insurance Offered
EyeMed Employee Only coverage is $0.89 per week. Family coverage is $2.18 per week.
Retirement Plan Offered
While participating in Miller Pipeline's 401k plan, you will earn 200x your contribution up to 3% from the company. In other words, if you contribute 3%, Miller Pipeline will contribution an additional 6% to your 401k.
Sick Leave Offered
Standard Family/Medical Leave is offered under federal and state requirements. Employees also receive personal paid time which can be used for paid sick leave. The company benefits include coverage for short- and long-term disability.
Vacation Offered
2-3 weeks of vacation time per year plus personal time off.
