About Us

Our business was established in 2017, as a dual franchise, Milex Complete Auto Care and Mr. Transmission. Our current location has been a long standing location for automotive related services. Milex / Mr. Transmission is owned by a corporation, Yella Horse Investments Inc. Yella Horse Investments Inc. is wholly owned by Steve and Nikki Sargent. Steve and Nikki live in Fuquay-Varina. Steve works full time in and on the business. Steve has an extensive background in technical sales, marketing and advertising. His experience was in the healthcare, medical and pharmaceutical market development. He has owned several businesses including a medical consulting and service business based in Cary. He experience within automotive started at a very early age. He has rebuilt several vehicles, many engines and is working to develop his skills with transmissions. His experience with training highly technical sales personnel has developed his skills to read, digest and breakdown information relatively quickly. These skills help him to help his technicians with the diagnosing of vehicle issues. The service area has six bays with seven lifts. We have a Customer area that is updated and provides WIFI, visual entertainment as well as audio entertainment. We pride ourselves on having one of the cleanest shops anywhere.

Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

Shop is heated. Each bay has its own fan to assist with the warmer months.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

At full capacity we will have a crew of four technicians. Two higher level technicians and two developing technicians.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

We open each day at 7:30 am and close at 5:00 pm. No Saturday, Sunday or evening work.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

We provide all tools with exception of the technicians hand and power tools.

What type of break room facility is provided?

We are in the process of configuring a break room area. It will be in the heated and air conditioned space and will include microwave and refrigerator. We also have bottled water and coffee, as well.

How many bays does your shop have?

Eight

How many repair orders do you average per month?

Between 120 and 200 per month.

What is your parts ordering process?

Currently the service writers are ordering all of the parts. We are moving to a new system that will allow the technician to specify what is needed for a repair order.

What is your policy on side work?

We allow side work as long as it does not interfere with daily work performance.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

We work on all makes and models. Older and newer cars. Large projects and smaller projects. Each week is new and different than the week prior. We work collaboratively as a team. Pooling our experience and intelligence to solve complex issues. We truly care about our Customers and that is through truly caring for our employees.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We offer OJT (On the job) training for newer developing candidates.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

As technicians develop they would be eligible to advance up to the next level.

Can you describe your performance review process?

Employees will have their performance evaluated after the initial probationary period and then annually, on December 31.

What type of safety training is required?

Basic fire and OSHA safety training.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

Each senior tech will work with a less experienced technician. That senior technician will guide and supervise the work performed by the less experienced technician.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Yes. We work with several charities as our part to give back to the community. Wheels for Hope TAP of the Triangle Toys for Tots NC Food Bank

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

Currently we do not work with the local high school or tech schools

Where do you see the shop in five years?

We are well on our way to being one of the highest rated shops in the Raleigh area. We will continue to increase our business volume.

Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

We pay for your SAE training to develop your credentials. Technicians are encouraged to participate in on-going education and development.

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

Yes. It takes about 15- 20 minutes to complete.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Yes, based on how the candidates experience matches with the open position.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

In person interviews are initially with the Shop Manager and the owner. Then the candidate will meet and talk with each of the other employees and people they would be working with.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

We check all references, but do not do any background checks.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

A few days.

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $70,000 - $100,000/year ($33.65 - $48.08/hr)

B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $51,000 - $61,000/year ($24.52 - $29.33/hr)

Lube Technicians are entry level technicians that focus on routine maintenance such as oil changes, changing tires, and inspections.
