Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

Our shop is Heated and Air conditioned. We also have Big ceiling fans, and automatic speed doors.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

We currently have 14 technicians, 3 service advisors, and two back parts counter employees.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Our store is open from 7am to 7pm Monday-Friday, and 8am-6pm on Saturday. Our technicians shift is currently 8am-5pm Monday-Friday and 8am-4pm on Saturday. We currently schedule 3 technicians on Saturday.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

We provide every technician with tool boxes. We also provide all special tools provided by the manufacture.

What type of break room facility is provided?

We have a large break room with coffee, a full size refrigerator/freezer, a large screen TV, and tables and chairs. We also have a microwave oven.

How many bays does your shop have?

19 car lifts, 4 Van lifts, 1 flat bay, and 2 alignment lifts.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

600-700

What is your parts ordering process?

We can get parts next day in most cases, or 2 days for regular stock orders.

What is your policy on side work?

We do not look favorably on side work. We don't not allow technicians to do side work on current customers of ours. We don't mind if a technician does side work for friends and family, or on non-Mercedes brand.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

We have a new shop, that's only 5 years old, and an addition to the shop that was completed in 2023. We also have our own car wash with an in-house car wash crew. We have a full time shop porter who keeps the shop spotless on a daily basis.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

Yes, we offer online training through the manufacture. We also offer continued instructor led training to advance our technicians knowledge and certification levels.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

We encourage, and provide the necessary training for career growth. We also often look within for promotions or other job role opportunities when available, and when interest is shown by an employee.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We do a first 90 day performance review. We then review performance yearly.

What type of safety training is required?

We employ a company to keep us in OSHA compliance. All employee at the dealership are requires to take learning modules regularly.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We have mentors who younger technicians work with daily until they are ready to go on their own. The mentors in our shop continue to help other technicians in the shop when needed. We also have a shop foreman who mentors and help all of the technicians in the shop when needed.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We work with local tech schools in the community, and offer job opportunities.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We are currently working with a local college with a tech program built specifically for Mercedes Benz training of technicians. We will be offering internships for this program.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

Our hope is to have a shop well established with trained, experienced and master certified technicians. As the EV market quickly expands, we see ourselves training and cultivating intelligent technology savvy technicians ready to take on this new technology.

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

We have a short application form which take only 5-10 minutes to fill out. We require a sign off for a drivers license check, and a background check.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Yes, we can perform phone screen, and zoom interviews as well.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

We like to get to know the applicant on a personal level first. Then we get into education, certifications, and past experience discussions. We keep it comfortable and easy going.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

Yes to all except the personality test. We may incorporate personality test in the future.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

Not at this time. Skill assessment is done through the interview process.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

Typically within 2-5 days.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $80,000 - $150,000/year

We are on a flat rate system. We pay at the top of our market for A level technicians and have a very aggressive production bonus program. A technician can earn up to $7.50 above their pay rate based on the hours they produce in one week. We pay our technicians on a weekly basis.

B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $50,000 - $80,000/year

All of our technicians are on the production bonus program, and can earn up to $7.50 above their base hourly rate.

C Level Technician
C Level Technicians are more of entry level technicians. C Level Technicians’ responsibilities typically include basic maintenance, alignments, brake and suspension work, along with other base level repairs.
Pay Range: $30,000 - $50,000/year

All of our technicians are on the production bonus program, and can earn up to $7.50 above their base hourly rate.

Lube Technician
Lube Technicians are entry level technicians that focus on routine maintenance such as oil changes, changing tires, and inspections.
Pay Range: $30,000 - $40,000/year

All of our technicians are on the production bonus program, and can earn up to $7.50 above their base hourly rate.

Service Advisor
Service Advisors are primarily customer focused and, as one of the faces of the shop, they are critical in keeping customers happy. Service Advisors are frequently focused on taking customer calls, relaying information to technicians, and selling repair jobs. Both technical and sales experience are helpful for this position.
Pay Range: $70,000 - $100,000/year

Commission based pay. Pay based on background and experience
