What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

3 advisors, 3 parts personal and 10 technicians

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

The store is open 7-6 M-F and 8-4 on Saturday. Technician shifts are open to discussion with some on 5 day work weeks as well as 4-10 hour shifts. We rotate Saturdays and provide a day off during the work week.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

All Mercedes specific tools are provided by the dealership. Any factory required tool is ordered and provided when released. New Hunter alignment and wheel/tire equipment within the last 4 years.

What type of break room facility is provided?

Full technician break room as well as changing area/uniform storage provided.

How many bays does your shop have?

12 Main shop lifts with 3 sprinter/commercial van lifts- with room to add additional lifts!

How many repair orders do you average per month?

We average 650 total RO's a month 450/500 customer pay 85/100 warranty pay Remainder is internal and used car work

What is your parts ordering process?

Parts are requested through CDK or Xtime inspection tool. When work is approved or declined it automatically generates a ticket to parts to notify them to pull parts if in stock or order. The parts department also gets a separate print out when tickets are written through CDK to pull parts and stage them for vehicles being checked in.

What is your policy on side work?

Side work is allowed as long as it is not during business hours, a repair order must be generated to work on anything within our facility.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We continuously register technicians for Mercedes specific in person training, pay for the expense and training time while away form the dealership. We have a process built out for entry level technicians with a career path on how to grow what is required and how long it takes to achieve individual training requirements. We also have a mentor program with our senior technicians

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

Being part of a Fortune 500 company the possibilities are endless! We have technicians that are now part of our regional support staff all the way up to and including our VP of fixed operations! We allow the opportunity for management training, stock awards programs as well as shop foreman roles and service managers roles through out the country!

Can you describe your performance review process?

Performance reviews are handled annually. A new team member will get a 30 day review and 90 day review- then they are handled annually past that.

What type of safety training is required?

We offer virtual safety training on lift safety and Osha compliant safety training.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We "attach" a mentor technician with one of our lead Mercedes certified technicians. The lead technician is paid on the mentor's production and career path goals as he/she progresses through the program.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We offer 40 hours of PTO to be used at the employee's discursion for a sponsored charity that we are involved in. We allow team members to volunteer new programs/community programs for our group to support regularly. We have done additional charitable events with the Cardinals/Blues/Children's Hospital. We also will sponsor one off events by donating vehicles to be driven in fund raising events as an example.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We have a strong relationship with many local vocational schools. We have donated time, material and training curriculum to the area schools and technical colleges. We host events for students to come out and view our dealerships interact with our technical staff and ask any questions of dealership interworking's.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

Mercedes -Benz of Chesterfield will be the premier luxury provider for the West St. Louis area. We have continued to grow in Sales into market as well as service penetration and are currently ranked 14th out of 91 dealers in the region in retention and new customer acquisition.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

We will reach out to formally introduce ourselves and set a time/date to meet in person if applicable. If the candidate is out of state we will conduct phone interviews accordingly or live zoom calls.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

Introduction to various parts of the team, one on one conversation on career/work history. Applicable questions pertaining to the job role and what specific skills you have acquired throughout your career!

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

Background/Drug screens are mandatory for employment. We do a personality assessment(caliper) as part of the onboarding program so we have a better understanding of how you function day to day!

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

No we do not require a skills assessment as part of the hiring process- Although when speaking to our technical staff they may ask job specific questions to gauge your comprehension level/training level.

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $75,000 - $200,000/year

Flat rate master certified technicians have no ceiling to the earning potential! We have several within our St. Louis market that will meet or exceed 200k this year! Accelerator goals for production metrics

B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $50,000 - $130,000/year

Flat rate compensation model with accelerators on production.

C Level Technician
C Level Technicians are more of entry level technicians. C Level Technicians’ responsibilities typically include basic maintenance, alignments, brake and suspension work, along with other base level repairs.
Pay Range: $32,000 - $600,000/year

Hourly, Flat rate, hybrid model

Lube Technician
Lube Technicians are entry level technicians that focus on routine maintenance such as oil changes, changing tires, and inspections.
Pay Range: $32,000 - $43,000/year

Service Advisor
Service Advisors are primarily customer focused and, as one of the faces of the shop, they are critical in keeping customers happy. Service Advisors are frequently focused on taking customer calls, relaying information to technicians, and selling repair jobs. Both technical and sales experience are helpful for this position.
Pay Range: $0 - $185,000/year

Advisor are paid on individual production and we have several team members making over 150k+ a year within our St. Louis Market.

Student Tech / Apprentice
Student technicians work on entry level tasks while completing their school programs.
Pay Range: $32,000 - $42,000/hour
