Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

Shop is heated. We are in the process of building a new facility that will have geo thermal heating and cooling along with big fans!

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

18 - Technicians 9 - Service advisors 2 - Service Managers 1 - Express Manager Service Director

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Monday - Thursday 7am - 7pm Friday 7am - 6pm Saturday 7am - 4pm Sunday 8am - 4pm Technicians work four, 10 hour shifts

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

We provide interface modules for diagnostics from Honda. We have a program where technicians can purchase own laptop to work with those tools. Technicians are expected to have own basic set of tools

What type of break room facility is provided?

Break room includes, refrigerator, TV, and tables

How many bays does your shop have?

10 main shop + alignment rack

How many repair orders do you average per month?

3500

What is your parts ordering process?

Technician sends to advisor who will order parts. Also in some cases technician will order parts directly as well.

What is your policy on side work?

Technicians can work on personal or family member vehicle

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We offer Honda Training Modules, and send technicians to Honda training center which is conveniently located in Hoffman Estates. Training Center visits are fully paid and provided by dealership and we fully reimburse for passed ASE Certifications.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

We have full technician career path laid out. Service director is one of three in the company that started as a technician. Opportunities to move within the dealership group as openings allow.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We have weekly reviews on efficiency, and once a year we do a full performance review. Reviews are more of an open dialog on goals, where they fell short and where they excelled. We also discuss needs and where they want to go.

What type of safety training is required?

We do mandated OSHA safety trainings

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We have a shop culture where are more experienced technicians are happy to work with less experienced technicians to help grow them on their career path. Service Director will jump in and help/ train less experienced techs on jobs as well.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We sponsor youth sports teams, work with Cal's Angles Charity, and other charity events within the community.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

This is something that we are working on in the future, we are looking for opportunities to do more with high schools and tech schools.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

Fully taking advantage of our brand new facility but looking to grow out of that facility with more growth! We want to see our less experienced technicians become master Honda Technicians!

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

Our application is a paper form and it takes 10-15 minutes to complete

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Phone Screens are not required

What do your in-person interviews entail?

Our in-person interview includes a meeting with service director where you get to know candidate personally, talk about business culture and background. We let the candidate decide if they are a good fit for us. Includes shop tour, you will be able to speak to a journeymen technician. They usually take 20-30 minutes to complete.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

We require drug and background check. Insurability verification to verify clean driving record.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

Not required, we ask questions in interview process to gauge skill level

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

Can be offered on the spot but usually within 24 hours

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

Usually 7-10 days, depending on schedules, drug and background checks

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $76,950 - $150,000/year ($37.00 - $72.12/hr)

$39-$44 Flat Rate Sign on Bonus Opportunities for right candidate The more productive/ more hours booked, the higher percentage contributed to your insurance

B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $41,600 - $110,000/year ($20.00 - $52.88/hr)

$27-$35 Flat Rate The more productive/ more hours booked, the higher percentage contributed to your insurance

C Level Technician
C Level Technicians are more of entry level technicians. C Level Technicians’ responsibilities typically include basic maintenance, alignments, brake and suspension work, along with other base level repairs.
Pay Range: $33,270 - $65,000/year ($16.00 - $31.25/hr)

$21-$30 Flat Rate Based on hours booked per week The more productive/ more hours booked, the higher percentage contributed to your insurance

Lube Technician
Lube Technicians are entry level technicians that focus on routine maintenance such as oil changes, changing tires, and inspections.
Pay Range: $30,150 - $32,250/year ($14.50 - $15.50/hr)
