Under The Hood

Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

YES! How does 72 degrees year-round sound to you! :-) We have 21 Bays with Rotary in-ground lifts, high ceiling & bay lighting, state-of-the-art facility with equipment from many leading manufacturers like Hunter & MB Approved Dealer Equipment

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

Over 28 Technicians/ 3 Team leaders/ 2 Central diagnostic technicians. 9 service advisors. 1 Lane Manager. 1 Shop Manager and plenty of support staff.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm Saturday 7:00am to 5:00pm (generally 1 Saturday per month) 5 day work week

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

All MB Special Tools,2 Hunter tire balancers & changers, 2 Hunter Alignment racks. , CDK Service to perform paperless Multi-Point Inspection & professional estimates that you can text, and Desktop PC's in every bay. 11 XENTRY Diagnostic tools. 1 pico scope with NVH.

What type of break room facility is provided?

Two Air-Conditioned break rooms with TV, refrigerator, table, chairs, and vending machine on site

How many bays does your shop have?

42 bays including 38 lifts, 2 alignment racks, & 2 flat bays

How many repair orders do you average per month?

Over 1400

What is your parts ordering process?

Parts delivered directly to you bay anyone? Our fantastic parts team will deliver your parts right to your bay so you can stay productive and quote any job for you electronically via CDK Service (our software platform). If we don't have a part you need, simply order it by 3pm and have it delivered to our dealership from Jacksonville, Florida 8am the following morning!

What is your policy on side work?

All employee or immediate family member's owned vehicles may be worked on in our shop provided there is an open repair order outside of your scheduled work hours.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

We have a wonderful culture of helping each other and promote from within. 50% of Leith employees have been with the company more than 5 years / 25% more than 10 years!

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

Yes. Our technicians go to MB factory training in Jacksonville FL at no charge to the technician.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

Can you describe your performance review process?

Your Mentor will work with you on a daily, weekly, monthly basis reviewing your progress all along the way

What type of safety training is required?

Annual Safety & Compliance Training for all employees provided by Crandall Corporation. Safety glasses and nitrile gloves are provided for all technicians

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We currently have 28 Mercedes Technicians and many of them mentor our Entry-Level technicians. They work directly with assigned apprentice technicians and go through a step by step onboarding process that will last up to 6 months. The goal is to have a full-time apprentice technicians producing 40+ flat rate hours, 50+ Mercedes online web modules complete.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Our dealership supports local charities and is involved in local car clubs.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

YES! We partner with fantastic technician school like Wake Tech, NASCAR Technicial Institute, Lincoln Tech, and well as our local high school automotive program. We visit the local high schools on a regular basis and love talking to students interested in a rewarding career in the Automotive Industry! We even host a Future Tech event each your at one of our sister stores each year!

Growing to over 35 technicians & servicing over 2,000 vehicles per month!

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

Yes, we provide an electronic application form or one you can complete at the dealership. It will take about 10-15 minutes.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

In-person interviews typically occur at our dealership where the potential hire will sit down with multiple management personnel. Typically the Service Manager, Assistant Service Manager and/or shop foreman is present for in-person interviews. A few basic questions are asked to find out what you are looking for in a dealership to see if we are a good match. You will have the opportunity to walk through our shop and talk to our technicians.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

Yes. Background checks, driving record checks and drug testing are required

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

Applicants will talk with the shop foreman or lead technician and they will review different job skills with you.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

Offers are made usually with 24 hours contingent on the background and drug screens.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

48-72 hours depending on background and drug screens

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $60,000 - $115,000/year

B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $50,000 - $86,000/year

C Level Technician
C Level Technicians are more of entry level technicians. C Level Technicians’ responsibilities typically include basic maintenance, alignments, brake and suspension work, along with other base level repairs.
Pay Range: $41,000 - $70,000/year

Lube Technician
Lube Technicians are entry level technicians that focus on routine maintenance such as oil changes, changing tires, and inspections.
Pay Range: $21,000 - $45,000/year

Service Advisor
Service Advisors are primarily customer focused and, as one of the faces of the shop, they are critical in keeping customers happy. Service Advisors are frequently focused on taking customer calls, relaying information to technicians, and selling repair jobs. Both technical and sales experience are helpful for this position.
Pay Range: $45,000 - $85,000/year
