Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

Both car and truck shop fully air conditioned with thermostat set at 68 degrees!

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

13-15 techs, 3-4 advisors

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

We are open 7:30-6:00, techs work 8-5 and only 5 days a week. We are open Saturdays from 8:00-4:00 but no one is required to work a 6 days week

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

We have all the manufacturers special tools and work hard to keep them properly inventoried. Diagnostic equipment and service machinery is also provided

What type of break room facility is provided?

Break room is available with refrigerator, microwave sink and sitting area with a table if you choose to eat lunch at the dealership

What is your policy on side work?

We permit technicians to perform work on vehicles owned by their family (Parents, spouse and kids). We do not permit side work to be done in the shop.

Hardest working team on the planet that understands that their actions affect others paychecks. We are one team striving to make not only ourselves better, but our department and the Leith organization!

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We not only offer but encourage career development for all of our employees - from a 4 day investment in excellence program to on site leadership development classes to offsite manufacturer training. We will help you go as far as you would like!

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

Can you describe your performance review process?

Performance reviews are conducted every 6 months to help you know how you are developing and to make sure that we are reviewing market standards for pay. Pay raise is not a bad word in our organization!

What type of safety training is required?

Basic lift safety and OSHA training will be provided

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We have a structures mentorship programs that allows our senior technicians to train the newer guys while still being compensated for doing so. What that means is that our apprentices actually get trained versus becoming gophers or custodians! It is our desire to see new techs get up to speed quickly and our structured process has proven effective at making that happen.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We annually do events like Toys for tots, we participate in local sponsorships of church and other civic organizations!

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We work with all the local high schools, Nascar Technical Institute and 3 different community colleges.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

We have increased our customer pay by more than 20% every year and consistently keep CSI above national. Our goal is to continue to grow our customer base, keep them happy and retain 100% of our employees!

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

Yes, we provide an electronic application form or one you can complete at the dealership. It will take about 10-15 minutes.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

In-person interviews typically occur at our dealership where the potential hire will sit down with multiple management personnel. Typically the Service Manager, Assistant Service Manager and/or shop foreman is present for in-person interviews. A few basic questions are asked to find out what you are looking for in a dealership to see if we are a good match. You will have the opportunity to walk through our shop and talk to our technicians.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

Yes. Background checks, driving record checks and drug testing are required

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

Applicants will talk with the shop foreman or lead technician and they will review different job skills with you.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

Offers are made usually with 24 hours contingent on the background and drug screens.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $80,000 - $120,000/year

Ford Master and Senior Master techs have an amazing opportunity to earn a great income working on primarily customer pay vehicles. Our current work mix is 53.2% Customer pay, 31.3% Internal and 15.5% warranty. That means you will typically work on one warranty vehicle every 2 days.

B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $50,000 - $80,000/year

We foster an environment where our B techs get an opportunity to continue to train and earn the opportunity to continue to advance their career. With the amount of customer pay work that we have techs in this category can really produce the hours!

C Level Technician
C Level Technicians are more of entry level technicians. C Level Technicians’ responsibilities typically include basic maintenance, alignments, brake and suspension work, along with other base level repairs.
Pay Range: $35,000 - $50,000/year

Entry level and used car techs who want to learn and grow will be offered the opportunity to move up the food chain quickly and may even qualify for our dealer sponsored Associates degree program which includes Ford specific training!

Lube Technician
Lube Technicians are entry level technicians that focus on routine maintenance such as oil changes, changing tires, and inspections.
Pay Range: $32,000 - $35,000/year

As we continue to grow and expand our express lane services - the lube tech role is vital in helping us build our business. We have pulled several apprentices out of our express lane and into the main shop in the last year. Great place to launch your automotive career!

Service Advisor
Service Advisors are primarily customer focused and, as one of the faces of the shop, they are critical in keeping customers happy. Service Advisors are frequently focused on taking customer calls, relaying information to technicians, and selling repair jobs. Both technical and sales experience are helpful for this position.
Pay Range: $50,000 - $90,000/year

With the explosive growth in the Wendell, Knightdale and other Eastern Wake County communities our service advisors have the opportunity to write as much work as they can handle. A strong service advisor at Leith Ford can produce an outstanding paycheck! Paid weekly with monthly bonuses!

Service Manager
Service Managers are responsible for management and overall health of the shop. Service Managers are typically focused on running an efficient shop that meets their financial goals. Other responsibilities can include staffing, performance evaluations, and financial analysis amongst many other responsibilities.

Student technicians work on entry level tasks while completing their school programs.
