What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

15 Technicians 9 Express Techs 6 Service Advisors 1 Cashier 1 Warranty Administrator 1 Dispatcher 6 Porters 1 Service Drive Manager 1 Service Manager 1 Fixed Ops Director

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

We are open 7AM-6PM Monday to Friday. 7:30AM-4PM Saturday. Closed Sunday. Technician shift hours are 7:30AM-4:30PM.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

We provide all specialty tools, diagnostic equipment and machines.

What type of break room facility is provided?

Our breakroom is furnished with a microwave, refrigerator, freezer, sink and computer. Complimentary coffee is provided in the lounge. Vending machines are available to purchase snacks and drinks.

How many bays does your shop have?

There are 23 total bays. 2 Hunter alignment racks, 1 EV, 1 open bay, 2 post lift, 14 in ground, 2 scissor, 3 express.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

We average 1500 ROs per month.

What is your parts ordering process?

Technicians fill out a parts request with a service advisor. The estimate is given to the customer by the service advisor. Once repairs are approved the service advisor turns in a copy into part for the order.

What is your policy on side work?

Technicians may work on their own or family members vehicles with an open RO and authorization from management.

Are there any other unique features of the work environment worth noting?

We have a state of the art facility with the latest technology. Our shop was expanded in 2018 to add additional bays, parts storage and mezzanine, and an additional drive. We have a family like environment that makes it enjoyable to come to work.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

All employees have web-based training available. We also have a technician growth program that includes paid training at a local classroom with a shop setting.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

No matter what skill level, we always want to assist and invest in employees to help get them to the next level. As our business grows, our hope is that our employees will grow with it in areas that are important to them, including growth in ability, knowledge, skill and compensation.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We have an annual performance review.

What type of safety training is required?

We have a MADA safety video and a Federated insurance video. It may require you to pass a test.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

In our technician growth program we have apprentice positions that work along side a master technician.

We have partnered with local schools and offer scholarships and tools.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

Our business is rapidly growing. We have expanded our dealership twice in 4 years. This has resulted in an accelerated technician growth program. Our business will continue to grow and advance where we will need to expand yet again.

Is there anything else you’d like to mention about career development and community?

Lee's Summit Subaru loves and respects all customers and employees. We hope the love is felt by all. We have an annual Christmas party that includes all employees and families and we honor the hard work accomplished throughout the year. Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

We have an easy to complete application that takes under 15 minutes.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

We occasionally will hold a short phone interview prior to an in-person interview.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

Our Service Manager and Fixed Ops Director conduct the interview where the application and resume are discussed, and they will ask several questions to get to know you. You will have the time to in turn ask any questions of our department you would like to know.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

We perform a back ground check and drug screening prior to employment.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

All technician candidates will review their skill level with our shop foreman prior to employment.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

We provide feedback to all candidates prior to the conclusion of the interview to let you know where we stand. You can expect a response within 1-2 business days.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

The entire process can take as little as 2-3 business days depending on availability and scheduling.

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $100,000 - $120,000/year

Flat rate, based on background and certifications

B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $50,000 - $85,000/year

Flat rate, based on background and certifications

C Level Technician
C Level Technicians are more of entry level technicians. C Level Technicians’ responsibilities typically include basic maintenance, alignments, brake and suspension work, along with other base level repairs.
Pay Range: $31,200 - $35,350/year ($15.00 - $17.00/hr)

This is an hourly position.

Lube Technician
Lube Technicians are entry level technicians that focus on routine maintenance such as oil changes, changing tires, and inspections.
Pay Range: $27,050 - $31,200/year ($13.00 - $15.00/hr)

This is an hourly position.

Service Advisor
Service Advisors are primarily customer focused and, as one of the faces of the shop, they are critical in keeping customers happy. Service Advisors are frequently focused on taking customer calls, relaying information to technicians, and selling repair jobs. Both technical and sales experience are helpful for this position.
Pay Range: $50,000 - $100,000/year

$500 per week salary. Percentages of gross on a scale of performance based on KPIs of alignment penetration, tire sales, total gross after discounts, CP Hours per RO, CP ELR and CSI. Bonuses for highest alignment penetration, highest CP Hours per RO, Highest CP ELR and Highest RO count.

Student Tech / Apprentice
Student technicians work on entry level tasks while completing their school programs.
Pay Range: $15 - $17/hour

This is an hourly position.

Retirement Plan Offered
An employee who has completed at least 12 months of continuous service with the dealership and performed at least 1000 hours of service in the prior 12 month period is eligible. Must be 21. Once eligible to participate, the company contributes $.50 per $1 up to 3% of your contributions.
Sick Leave Offered
An employee who has completed at least 12 months of continuous service with the dealership and performed at least 1250 hours of service in the prior 12 month period is eligible to receive an unpaid family/medical leave in accordance with the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA).
Vacation Offered
The dealership grants annual vacation with pay to full-time employees who meet the following service requirements: 1 year - 5 days 2 years - 10 days 3 years - 11 days 4 years - 12 days 5 years - 13 days 6 years - 14 days 7 years or more - 15 days
Paid Holidays Offered
Observed Holidays: New Year's Day Memorial Day Independence Day Labor Day Thanksgiving Day Christmas Day Full-time employees who have completed 90 days of continuous employment are eligible for holiday pay.
ST / LT Disability Offered
Met Life Eligible to full time employees scheduled to work at least 30 hours per week. Benefits start on the first of the month following 60 days of employment.

Uniforms Offered
Uniforms are provided at $6 per paycheck, this includes dry cleaning and rental fees.
