Our shop is heated.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

At our Lake Chevrolet location, we currently have 7 technicians, 2 service writers, 2 parts counter people, 1 parts manager and 1 service manager.

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

Our shop hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

GM specific tools are provided.

What type of break room facility is provided?

We have a full kitchen available for staff.

How many bays does your shop have?

We currently have 12 bays.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

We average 500 repair orders per month.

What is your parts ordering process?

Our Parts Department orders required parts based on the job or customer's needs.

What is your policy on side work?

We do not allow side work.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

Yes, we offer paid GM training.

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

As part of the quarterly and annual review process, leaders meet with their team members to learn more about their professional goals and provide opportunities for them to spend time in areas of interest to them.

Can you describe your performance review process?

Employees complete an annual self evaluation that is submitted to their manager as a self reflection of their year. The manager also completes an evaluation on the employee and they meet to go over the results together, and determine goals for the upcoming year.

What type of safety training is required?

Standard equipment and safety training.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

We hire summer interns in our shop, as well as hire students from the local community college auto program during the school year. Students attend class in the mornings and work in the shop in the afternoons.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

We are very involved by sponsoring several community events, and we actively participate in those we do not sponsor.

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We serve on the Advisory Board at North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC). Our HR Recruiter is passionate about outreach to students of all ages, as well as automotive programs. We also attend several career fairs and events.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

We will definitley be larger, as we are beginning a remodel and the addition of more bays during the 2nd Quarter of 2023.

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

Yes, we have an application form on the Career link on our website: www.pritchardco.com It takes approximately 2-3 minutes to complete and can be done on mobile devices or desktops.

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

Yes. Upon receipt of the application/resume, that applicant will receive a text message regarding a date/time for their phone screen with Human Resources.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

The hiring manager shares expectations and details about the role. The candidate and the hiring manager will review work and education experience. There will be an overview about the company, culture, and benefits. There will be time to ask any questions and discuss next steps.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

We perform background checks.

Do you perform a skill assessment before hiring an applicant? If yes, what does it entail?

We do not perform a skill assessment as part of our hiring process.

After an in-person interview, approximately how long should I expect to wait for a rejection or an offer?

Typically, within 48 hours. At the completion of the interview, we let the candidate know where we are at in the process. We also make sure they have a phone number and email address of the HR Recruiter so they can contact them directly with questions at any time.

Approximately how long does the full hiring process take from submitting the application to the time of the hiring decision?

We pride ourselves on streamlining our process as much as possible. The entire process from application submittal to hiring decision can be completed within 7-10 days.

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $72,800 - $150,000/year

Efficiency incentives, signing bonus, yearly performance bonus based on sold hours, robust benefits package. OEM Certified and/or ASE Certified with mastery of Engines, Diagnostics, Electrical and Repair

B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $52,000 - $70,720/year

Efficiency incentives, signing bonus, yearly performance bonus based on sold hours, robust benefits package, paid continued education. Some OEM or ASE Certification, or 2 year Auto Program Completion, 5 year+ total experience in Repair Facility

C Level Technician
C Level Technicians are more of entry level technicians. C Level Technicians’ responsibilities typically include basic maintenance, alignments, brake and suspension work, along with other base level repairs.
Pay Range: $41,600 - $65,000/year

Some ASE or OEM Training, 2 year or partial Auto Program Completion, or 3+ years experience in Repair Facility. Efficiency incentives, yearly performance bonus based on sold hours, robust benefits package, paid continued education.

Maintenance Technician Pay Range: $15 - $19/hour ($0.01 - $0.01/hr)

Hourly Entry Level Tech able to perform Oil Changes, vehicle inspections, and minor repairs. On the job training provided. Robust benefits package, paid continued education.
