Is the shop heated? Air conditioned?

The shop is heated during the winter months.

What is the size of the team I’d be working with?

We prefer that all of service

What are the shop hours and what are the shift timeframes?

8 to 5. Monday thru Friday.

What tools does the shop provide that are available for all technicians to use?

We have 2 Master Technicians that are always willing to assist. Shop supplies an Autel scanner and a Snap-on Solus scanner, Tpms programmer, AEZ flasher, Chrysler Micro-pod, HP tuner, Maxi flash programmer. We have CNC key cutting machines and immobilizer programming.

What type of break room facility is provided?

Normal Facilities, Refrigerator, Microwave, Coffee.

How many bays does your shop have?

We have 10 bays and a drive-on 4 post under the awning.

How many repair orders do you average per month?

315 on 3 Month average

What is your parts ordering process?

We have two people ordering parts. If parts hit a certain dollar amount they will get approval from management.

What is your policy on side work?

Side work is allowed as long as it doesn't interfere with normal work schedules.

Do you offer any skills training or continuing education opportunities?

We offer ASE reimbursement and a pay raise with passing results. We have joined CTIonline training. We provide ASE test prep information

Can you describe opportunities for career growth at your business?

We have an Inspection/ build process where I start most individuals in Pre-Inspection and build them thru our process. We have two technicians that have started this way and are now experienced B level technicians on their way to be A level.

Can you describe your performance review process?

We have an Open door policy. I track many levels of performance i.e recon cost, days in inventory and production percentage. I give weekly numbers to every technician, detailer and inspector.

What type of safety training is required?

We have production and safety meetings weekly.

Can you describe how Techs work with and mentor younger techs?

Because all the techs at our facility are hourly they are more than willing to help or mentor in any situation. We would like to think its all a team effort.

How does your shop get involved with the local community?

Kyle Chapman Motors had live camels at the Living nativity a Park Hills Church. That is where are Logo of the Auto Oasis started

Do you do anything with local high schools or tech schools to encourage more students to enter the profession?

We have donated Money and services to local schools.

Where do you see the shop in five years?

We would like to find a bigger location to bring our bodyshop and reconditioning at the same location.

Do you have an application form and how long does it typically take to complete?

We do have an Application form and I would say it should take about 15 minutes to complete

Do you phone screen applicants before doing in-person interviews?

We have in the past. Really depends on the person.

What do your in-person interviews entail?

We ask questions about work history, technical knowledge, Skill level. I would give a back story about Kyle Chapman Motors. I will state the hours we work, expectations set, and I would go over benefits.

Do you perform background checks, drug screening, or personality tests before hiring an applicant?

We may call references but do not require drug testing or personality tests before hiring.

A Level Technician
A Level Technicians are highly skilled technicians that have strengths in their diagnostic and mechanical ability. This level of technician typically has many years of experience and education. We view an A Level Technician as the highest skilled technician in a shop
Pay Range: $50,000 - $100,000/year ($24.04 - $48.08/hr)

We pay hourly, not flag time. Because we are a used car lot we have an unlimited supply of work.

B Level Technician
B Level Technicians are skilled in mechanical repair and, while not their specialty, have some diagnostic skills. B Level Technicians generally have a fair amount of experience and can be trusted to handle most repairs.
Pay Range: $35,000 - $50,000/year ($16.83 - $24.04/hr)

We pay hourly, not flag time. Because we are a used car lot we have an unlimited supply of work

C Level Technician
C Level Technicians are more of entry level technicians. C Level Technicians’ responsibilities typically include basic maintenance, alignments, brake and suspension work, along with other base level repairs.
Pay Range: $24,500 - $37,500/year ($11.78 - $18.03/hr)

Lube Technician
Lube Technicians are entry level technicians that focus on routine maintenance such as oil changes, changing tires, and inspections.
Pay Range: $24,500 - $37,500/year ($11.78 - $18.03/hr)

Student Tech / Apprentice
Student technicians work on entry level tasks while completing their school programs.
Pay Range: $12 - $18/hour

Collision Technician - A Level Pay Range: $50,000 - $100,000/year ($24.04 - $48.08/hr)

Collision Technician - B Level Pay Range: $35,000 - $50,000/year ($16.83 - $24.04/hr)

Collision Painter Pay Range: $35,000 - $50,000/year ($16.83 - $24.04/hr)
